Aug. 31st, 2020 04:55 pmTorn between updating things now and ... well, and then I realized how late in the day it was so never mind, I guess it's late enough for an update.
So, the car's been doing this thing where something drains the battery while it sits either at the boy's work or at home, and yesterday as he was heading to work it was really most sincerely dead. Fortunately we have awesome across the street neighbors even if they do drive unnecessarily loud engines, they jumped him in the good way, we got him off to work. This morning, dead again. He got it jumped enough to go to the dealership, got picked up by a friend and taken to a car rental place. Fortunately the dealership called shortly before he went to bed this morning and it's not a cheap fix like a blown fuse in an easily accessible place, but it's not a couple thousand dollars either. Plus some of the cost is going to, if I overheard correctly, basic maintenance things. So here's hoping that (battery replacement) fixes it. I'm not sure of the chain of equipment that leads to "replace the battery, the AC fan stops when it's supposed to and doesn't stay on and drain the battery" but the boy seems to think it'll do the trick so, eh.
Of course all that's going down right as he might get shipped down to Jacksonville. The Louisiana VA, or one of them (I don't know how many they have) was evacuated ahead of the hurricane and a lot of people ended up in Jacksonville, to the point that they need extra staff. There's a pool of people who sign up to be shipped off to wherever is needed, it got activated when New York became a pandemic surge point and I guess now would be another reasonable time, but ugh. I don't want him to go to Jacksonville. I'm tired and hanging on by a thread as it is, and being able to curl up and play stupid phone games with him is keeping my keel even slightly even. Ugh. We'll find that out in a couple of days, I suppose.
I managed to do languages today for the first time in a while. I got up, I showered, I was going to do some guitar also for the first time in a while but the dizziness started. Didn't let up with food. Pulse turned out to be sitting at 110 for no goddamn reason I could find. (No specific reason, the usual reason these days is stress.) So I've been faffing about trying to rest and failing because now my stomach's decided to act up and I guess now it's time for dinner. Maybe I can get some more things done this evening? Like classwork, as per the schedule? Maybe not. I don't know.
I'm taking a goddamn drowsy-inducing antihistamine tonight though. Not as a sleep aid, but because last night I woke up every couple of hours sneezing my head off. The boy's making dark mutterings about getting a new window AC for the upstairs off of fall "get these things out of here" sales. It's possible we've had that one for eight years or so, he says we got it when we bought the house and yeah, considering how stuffy it can get in the house that makes sense. But yikes. And ugh. Today is just generally ugh. Though I guess, more of a normal sort of ugh than a my brain is trying to kill me ugh? Is that an improvement?
