The void laughed quietly.

"Just the hunger. Eternal hunger. And the emptiness. You wouldn't like it, I'm sure."

Всего лишь голод -> structure is very close to 'All but hunger' except meaning the opposite (unless my English is is iffy rn). лишь is like... but, except, other than?

And yep. To the point where I didn't even realize it was the same word until you pointed it out.
