Feb. 21st, 2012 02:10 pmIch habe mir die Hände gewaschen. I washed my hands.
Hast du dir die Zähne geputzt? Did you brush your teeth?
Ich muss mir die Schuhe anziehen. I have to put on my shoes.
In other words, German uses both the definite article and reflexive pronoun where English uses the possessive adjective.
Sagen Sie, was Sie gemacht haben.
1. Hände waschen -- Ich habe mir die Hände gewaschen.
2. Haare waschen -- Ich habe mir die Haare gewaschen.
3. Haare kämmen -- Ich habe mir die Haare gekämm
4. Zähne putzen -- Ich habe mir die Zähne geputz
5. saubere Jeans anziehen -- Ich habe mir die saubere Jeans
6. ein sauberes Hemd anziehen -- Ich habe mir das sauberes Hemd
Note to self: Print up this recipe when home. (It's a bean quesadilla, for the curious.)
And in further news, science is just fucking awesome. And terrifying. The terrifying is the mouse that roared. Or in this case, howled. Yes, this is a carnivorous mouse that howls before it kills. Like a wolf. It's fucking freaky. And then there's also the 30,000 year old flowering plant grown from seeds found in the Russian permafrost. Is this exciting or what?? You are not allowed to say or what, it is only exciting.
I feel like sort of an inverse Gune. Instead of a triumphant "I'VE FINISHED MY NAP" I want to shriek "I'M READY FOR MY NAP." I also would like to know why my right index finger feels like I've been doing all the slide notes ever. Especially when I fret with my left. And I would like to register a complain about banks requiring everything to be done NOW NOW NOW when THE BANKS won't freaking get back to you for a day per question. So, for everyone else to see and so I remember, there are four addendums (There! Are! Four! Addendums! shut up I'm punchy.) two of which aren't really a problem, but two of which boil down to: when things are signed, you have 7 days and 10 days to get the inspection and mortgage loan respectively. Now, this shouldn't actually be a problem, but I'd much much rather have the inspection and definitely the mortgage appointment before the clock starts. Because of reasons. And nerves. Anyway, the mortgage shouldn't be a problem because we were pre-approved for the original, higher amount, did the number crunching on that, and it was at the top end of our budget anyway. And this is $Gophers lower.
SO. THINGS. Note to self, self: Tomorrow morning, unless Realty Lady says something dire and different.
1. Call Mortgage Lady at bank and schedule the damn appointment.
2. Set up appointment with Inspector Guy and then email to thank him for his patience and confirm. (Tues 9?)
3. POTENTIAL: Meet with Realty Lady and sign paperwork to start clock in a timely fashion.
And I think that's all the really big things I need to keep in my head for the next 24-48 hours. And once these potential appointments become real appointments I can keep them in my iSis and not have to worry about keeping them in my head. Because right now, dear lord and mother of all, I am amazed I can keep anything in my head for more than an hour or two at this rate. Oh, further note to self: Go back and look over the to-write list for today when you get home because none of that got done in between all the OTHER work and non-work related shit. But I did get languages and my publishing schedule fixed.

Date: 2012-02-21 10:46 pm (UTC)3. Ich habe mir die Haare gekämmt.
4. Ich habe mir die Zähne geputzt.
5. Ich habe mir die saubere Jeans angezogen.
6. Ich habe mir das saubere Hemd angezogen.
In each case the last verb form is wrong.

Date: 2012-02-22 01:50 am (UTC)But yes, that session was adorable. And so many teases! I want to know aaaaall the secrets now. Will the episode where we find out what happened to Bae be episode 19? If so, that makes me curious how, or if, Belle will play into it, since she's on the guest list for that ep. as well. Then again, Archie's been on the list for a few episodes and has never appeared, so...

Date: 2012-02-22 01:54 am (UTC)Me tooooo. I suspect it is, that seems like it would fit with shooting schedules and everything. I'm not too sure I'm going to trust any spoilers yet, but! And I wonder if we'll see his son at the same age or if they'll have a different actor. And I want to know about my Bae-as-Stranger theory! And! And and so many things I want to know.
Ooh. Maybe Bae will be played by Sebastian Stan...

Date: 2012-02-22 02:05 am (UTC)I'd like to see the young actor appear at least once, just to see what his early days of living with the new Dark One were like. I'm not sure if Rumple has seen Bae since Bae left/died/whatever transpired; it's hard to tell based on the little bit he mentioned to Belle. If Rumple hasn't, Bae could easily arrive in Storybrooke as a completely new character without Rumple recognizing him. Well, maybe that's where parent spidey senses come into play. I don't have kids, so I wouldn't know.
Hm...if Bae came through to our world centuries ago, he COULD have been the founder of the secret organization August works for. Maybe Bae, still bitter from magic's destruction of his father, vowed to save our world from the same fate. Or something.
That's true, we still don't know who Sebastian Stan is going to play. TV Guide says his episode is slated for late March/ early April, so we won't have to wait too long to find out!

Date: 2012-02-22 02:16 am (UTC)That's true, I'd really like to know what happened there. All we know from the conversation with Belle is that there was a child, which we knew already. .... Aaand. Here's an interesting question, what if time in Storybrooke runs like fairy tale time in fairy tales? Year inside century outside, if Bae escaped to Storybrooke from Storyland "centuries" ago, Rumplestiltskin would live for centuries but Bae would be aging very slowly. Which, you know, is me rationalizing the hell out of everything, but now I am curious to know if they're going to address that aspect of fairy tales, since it does come up a lot.
And then you also have founder of secret organization, etc! Which I have a vague memory of there being some spoilers regarding such a thing, and Eion Bailey and Sebastian Stan's characters. I think. So!
Not long now, no. And actually the timing would, I think, be right for him to be in Ep 19, at that rate. If it's early April. Eep. But maybe not.

Date: 2012-02-22 02:50 am (UTC)See, that makes me think of a show that came on a few years back called "Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story." The time idea there was similar, but flipped: for every day in the fairy tale world, a year passed in our world. A timeline setup like that would make sense for explaining why we have the Grimm/Anderson/other tales in our world prior to the arrival of Storybrooke, though there's still going to be some wibbly-wobbly timey-wimeyness in that scenario too. Someone actually suggested that because of time differences, the fairy tale characters may have some difficulty going back to...
Wait. Wait. "Our world"-- that is, the version of our world portrayed in the show-- is actually the FUTURE of Fairy Tale World. This is alternate dimension earth where magic was real but eventually fell into the realm of myth and legend. That's why we have the stories of Snow,Cindy, etc; they used to be historical accounts, but they were sanitized over the years into the child-friendly versions most kids know. It's not that the curse transported chunks of the Enchanted Lands with it when it was enacted-- it's that it transported the townspeople to a portion of future!Enchanted Lands where all of that stuff happened to already exist, buried by time.
I can already think of a hole in that theory, BUT I WANT TO BELIEVE.
Ooh, exciting! Don't know if I read those spoilers yet. There's been a distressing lack of spoilers in the last week or so, actually. Why does ABC not understand that I need fuel for my tinfoil hat theories?
Fingers crossed! It's getting close-ish.

Date: 2012-02-22 03:00 am (UTC)That… You know, that's actually not a bad idea, and now I want to see that happen. Even if it's just an Alternate Universe-type fanfic thingy.I think you should write that. Or make someone else write it.
Yes, Mulder.
Because ABC is made of very silly people who don't believe in fangirls or pandering to them. We should change their mind with copious piles of more fanfic. The
Want. More. Rumpelstiltskin. I'm going to go into withdrawal, here.

Date: 2012-02-22 03:20 am (UTC)Hm, hm. I wouldn't mind writing it, but I'd have to chew on it for a bit. It'll be like my planned Belle-During-Captivity fic and the Potter crossover I've been poking at. I have a vague idea of where I want to go, but the journey there is eluding me.
More madness! Don't they know we're the lifeblood that greases the wheel of shows? Some would claim the true lifeblood is advertising dollars, but you know. That's those people.
I know! I hope his total absence in Sunday's episode can be explained by his still being in jail. Which he should be, really, since he committed kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon. I'm going to guess that curse magic will prevent Moe from pressing charges and escalating this incident up the legal ladder as he rightly should.
Off topic, Every time I see commercials for that new John Carter of Mars movie, I cringe. It reminds me of Clash of the Titans, and not in a good way. Chronicle was pretty decent though, if you haven't seen it yet. I didn't regret the money I spent on it anyway.

Date: 2012-02-22 03:31 am (UTC)I have soooo many things I'm juggling at the moment. So many. I'm trying to restrict my fanfiction to the occasional tumblr blurp. It's... mostly working!
You'd think! But no. Because they're silly executives like that.
Hah, he doesn't need curse magic, he has money. Which is also caused by curse magic, so there you go. But, yeah. I missed him! He always adds a certain smirking levity and/or hiding behind the couch to an episode. Mostly hiding behind a couch, at least when he's all Skin Deep psychotic. Poor Rumplestiltskin, though.
... Ugh, that is not making me enthusiastic, I hated Clash of the Titans. Both of them, really, Harry Hamlin puts me to sleep. I haven't seen Chronicle! I actually haven't seen any movies lately. Too frazzled. I should, though. Hopefully this weekend or the next.

Date: 2012-02-22 03:46 am (UTC)Tumblr is good for blurps. It's nice to be able to bang things out just to test drive some ideas.
Oh! That reminds me! Either the curse magic was very thorough in its creation of identities for the residents of Storybrooke, or it's an excellent forger, because that seemed to be a real acceptance letter Kathryn received from the university she applied to. I'm inclined to think it's the former, because Henry was also able to use Mary Margaret's credit card to purchase a bus ticket. If they do get the option of staying in our world after the curse is broken, I wonder if their identities will stick around as well? It may be something Rumple built in.
It's a slow season for movies, unfortunately. I can't think of any really stellar ones coming out in the next few weeks. We're kind of in the dead zone where everyone's waiting for summer.

Date: 2012-02-22 03:56 am (UTC)It really, really is.
I think you're right, and I certainly hope he built in something like that. Otherwise there's going to be a lot of unhappy fairytale residents when it's all over. Actually, I've been wondering if this whole happy ending thing, the happily ever after? If that's more of a state of mind than a which-world-will-you-end-up-in kind of thing. If, depending on where they be happiest, people get the option of either staying in Storybrooke or going back to the fairytale world. Or maybe Rumpelstiltskin didn't put that much thought into that, on account of he was too busy obsessing over whatever was he decided he wanted. Son, girlfriend, whichever.
That's actually fine by me, the fewer things I have to grumble about missing, the better. ;)

Date: 2012-02-22 04:02 am (UTC)Several people, myself included, have pointed out that the world they came from is basically a medieval shit hole that no one but royalty would reasonably want to return to. Our world has its flaws, sure, but at least here the general populace of fairy tale world would be on equal footing. In their world, the only thing they'd have to look forward to is either being ground under the boot of the monarchy, or being ground under the boot of whatever magical being decided to screw them over. Possibly both.
