Но самый интересный из моих сверстников -- это Мартин. Он фотомодель.

... You know. I just realized. In the kidnapped children part of Reichenbach, Sherlock actually doesn't do much Holmesian stuff. He basically does act as CSI: Baker Street. I am unimpressed, Mr. Holmes. I mean, as a plot device it worked because he had that conversation with Molly that was important, but really. ... And actually given that, Donovan's an idiot, because yes, their boys could have done it. It's labwork. All they would have had to do was take what Sherlock pointed out to them, the footprints, and run the damn labwork. And then cross-reference, and it might have taken an hour or two longer but there wasn't anything special about that particular conclusion. Finding the footprints, yes, that was special. Gragh.

Anyway, yeah. And I'm kind of getting to the point where I wonder if maybe I should start pulling sentences from Day Watch or Twilight Watch or whatever Watch book it is I have in Russian to parse, just for the sake of increased complexity and stretching my vocabulary.

And finally, am I a bad person for wanting to write Sherlock fanfic, post Reichenbach or otherwise, solely to have someone ream him out for being a jackass? Maybe I'm just irritable this morning.

The next is correct generally, more literal would be "When you say "Model," you usually think of women." (It is second person singular, which can be translated as neutral, yes, but in a letter to a friend, it's usually really a 'you think' in a more direct use.)


*amused* Vik was going, "this is labwork, WHY are you doing it?" and my mental answer is that the connection between the clues is what he does (and the recognition of the chemistry off the top of his head, rather than having to look up/coordinate with other people to find out). But yeah, REALLY Donovan!

I keep forgetting that second one when I take it out of context like this. But, yes. Holy crap this is getting easier. XD

It didn't click for me because I was more focusing on the howdunnit and on the AUGH FUCKING WEEKEND OF SORCERY but this morning I was rewatching it and all "Wait a second. All you're doing is fucking LABWORK." So, yeah. XD

Sherlock needs a punch to the face. Argh.

And I don't really know enough of the actual forensics/etc. procedures to be able to tell if it can be done by any lab team/researcher or if it's more particular. SO I assumed it's more particular. ;)

Context ALWAYS helps. ;) Ugh, more Arabic this weekend, eek.

If I'm remembering right, it more requires specialized equipment than specialized knowledge, although obviously it requires both to recognize the compounds and things. A mass spectrometer would be able to do it, I think. Which is found in most forensics labs all over the place. And if I remember the way a mass spectrometer works he was basically doing the work of a mass spectrometer BY HAND, which is unnecessary and time consuming.

But, that's if I remember correctly. I could very well be mis-remembering, it's been a while.

If John does not punch him in the S3 premiere I will be disappoint. XD
