Dec. 23rd, 2011 09:54 amSo, yeah, as you may have guessed languages are going away for a day or three. At least until Yuletide is over and done with, while I'm chewing my way through the pinch hit list. Om nom nom. At this point I'm just not even going to say how many pinch hits I've done/am doing, partly because I don't actually remember and don't feel like going and counting it up and partly because I'm trying not to scare people. Again. Suffice to say that, it's a lot. See icon.
I don't even know what to say about the latest LJ disaster. Apart from I can in no way see how it benefits anyone, it's a PR nightmare, it's a lawsuit waiting to happen with the automatic payments turning on bullshit. It's driving more people to other websites, who I'm sure are laughing all the way to the bank as the saying goes and waving their thanks to LJ. Mostly a couple of administrators on LJ Russia as it seems. I don't know what the hell they're thinking, although there's all kinds of bad jokes in there about always a bureaucrat never a person and even worse jokes about Russian corrupt politics. One admin in particular seems to have forgotten that not all English speakers only speak English and maybe Spanish. I'm tempted to go look at some of these screencaps and practice my Russian.
Really need to nag the boy to make appointments to see houses, because although he's found a bunch of listings he likes we haven't gone to see any of them yet. I'm making him make them because my schedule is pretty well fixed, this hour to that, Monday through Friday, week after week. His schedule is this hour to that, but his days off change and sometimes he gets called in to work extra. So, he gets to make the house appointments. But he has found some houses that look promising and are within our price ranges, and while some of the for sale signs have gone down I have seen a couple more spring up. I think the biggest thing is for me to try and stop going THIS HOUSE I WANT THIS ONE every time something remotely shiny comes up and then being disappointed when it sells before we can look at it.
And speaking of houses! Apparently Architect Aunt talked to my other Aunt when she was up there to offer to help out with realtors and inspectors and things. Which is awesome because Architect Aunt was on City Council for a while, is still a practicing architect and I'm pretty sure knows at least half of everyone in town. These, I guess, are some of the advantages to having a family who's been living here for thirty freaking years, living in a smallish town, and so on and so forth. Or whatever, but I will take it. So... well, so apparently the boy's going to start making appointments for after the new year in a few days, so that's good. I am excite, you guys!
I am also working tomorrow, grr, which means it's probably better that I am excite. Still, I can bring in my netbook and if it turns out to be slow I can work on pinch hits there, grab a few more if they come by.

Date: 2011-12-23 03:03 pm (UTC)Give yourself until after Christmas for looking at houses? You will find a good one; but going through the whole nerve-wracking process while trying to write everything ever and then a coda, yeah. >.> Maybe finish the frenzy writing, and then sleep for a day (do you have Monday off?) and then start on that. Because you will fill like the winner of the universe because HOLY SHIT. That would be about the right energy level for that kind of effort.
*snoogles*

Date: 2011-12-23 03:04 pm (UTC)But, yeah. Writing all the pinch hits, then sleeping all the morning, then reading all the stories, I think, will be the plan. I have Sunday and Monday off so I have my weekend, just slightly displaced.

Date: 2011-12-23 03:17 pm (UTC)\o/ Sounds like a plan. Very good plan! I have holiday fic and one more pinch hit today, then cooking/cleaning and two more pinch hits tomorrow.
And then... all the treats.

Date: 2011-12-23 08:58 pm (UTC)Yeah, the lj situation is crazy. I just love that DW is working on enabling community imports. That'll make it a lot easier for loads of people to switch over.
Looking at houses = OMG AWESOME!!! Best of luck with that, and everything!

Date: 2011-12-23 11:14 pm (UTC)I know augh! I'm really especially happy about it because it means we might be able to move Courtesan School over and worry less about private things inadvertently becoming public.
Thank you! :D
