Mmm it says to pick out of three, but I'll just type up the phrases which is probably easier for solo work.

Yesterday we went to a party with [our fellow] students and our linguistics teacher. It was fun, but the most interesting thing was his apartment. [If?] the Ramoses live in a beautiful, big house, Professor [Pelly?] lives rather modestly: in a single room apartment not far from the university. "Single room apartment" [means] there is a bedroom, a kitchen, and a living room in one big room, approximately 25 metres [square, I assume].

To compare this house with the house where I live, it is immediately evident the difference. The Ramoses have five bedrooms on two floors: three bedrooms, a large ugh finish this later.

спальни, большая гостиная и столовая, а также огромная кухня и подвал. Это не подвал в нашем обычном понимании -- тёмный и мокрый. Их подвал -- это практически вторая гостиная. Правда, в этой комнате нет окон, но всё равно это довольно уютное место. В комнате стоят кресла и диван и даже раскладушка для гостей. На полу лежит пушистый ковёр. В одном углу стоит стол для пинг-понга, но я пока не играла.

Я очень хотела узнать, сколько стоит такой дом, но боялась спрашивать об этомю Роб мне сказал, что этот дом типичен для семьи среднего класса. Нужно отметить, что Рамосы -- и Виктор и Антония -- зврабатывают неплохо. Может быть, «богатый» -- это не то слово. Но сразу видно, что семья хорошо обеспечена.

Интересно, что почти все американский дома нмеют одну общую черту -- американцы любят белые стены. Я видела обои только в одном американском доме. Я долго думала, почему здесь любят такой спартанский стиль, и наконец, поняла: белые стены создают иллюзию простора.

Okay, the solution to having a massive ... I don't know if that was a panic attack or a depressive fit, it involved tears, a massive drop of self-worth, and a whole lot of flight urge. But apparently the solution is curling up and crying for five, then focusing on playing guitar. There's something really comforting about the weight of the guitar on my lap. Then cooking and doing other tangible things I can do that have visible results. And then, of course, life- and sanity-saving help from Syn. We love you Syn. How so awesome. And now I have a much calmer frame of mind, copious notes, and feel much more ready to face the day and this whole home-buying process.

I suppose the good part of this is, I know the area, I lived here off and on as a kid and I've lived here for a few years, people know my family even if they don't know me, although a fair number of them know me by now. Relatively speaking. It's a smallish town.

Right. Today... Hell, I didn't get any writing done last night, fictionwise, so today there will be all the fiction writing and probably not all of the checking stuff in, I see, since there's very little incoming. Possibly equally little outgoing, which means I find something I can do at my desk and get a fuckton of writing done. Something nice, mindless, and comforting for preference. Possibly do a scene in the Mechathingie first, then poke at what I started in Nano and see if it limps to an ending, then oh. I know what the ending is. Then work on the random medieval thing of random and the Janet Carter fic. There. That's sort of like a plan. Knitting in between.

God I could use a day off. Just to get my shit together.
