Written for a roughly 4 1/2 sts and 8 rows/inch yarn

1. Cast on to your size. Measure your arm about 6-7" below the wrist for the number of inches, then gauge swatch your yarn accordingly. Make sure your stitch number is divisible by 4.
2. K2P2 rib stitch for 8 rounds/1"
3. Knit 16 rounds/2"
4. Decrease by k2tog twice in the round. If on circulars, once each side (I did it by k1, k2tog, knit to end), if on double points, knit k2tog only twice, and pick a needle to omit.
5. Knit 8 rounds/1"
6. Repeat 4&5 once.
7. Decrease by k2tog four times in the round. If on circulars, twice each side (k1, k2tog, knit till 3 sts from end, k2tog, k1), if on double points k2tog four times.
8. Knit 8 rounds/1"
9. Repeat 7&8 twice
10. Knit 16 rows
11. Increase by 2 stitches
12. Knit 2 rows
13. Repeat 11&12
14. Bind off 6 stitches, continue knitting till end of round.
15. Pick up 6 stitches, continue knitting till end of round.
16. Knit 8 rounds/1" (at this point, also, try it on for desired length of hand part)
17. K2P2 rib stitch for 8 rounds/1"

Well. That power outage did, indeed, completely derail my morning. The 9 am vet visit was bad enough. But the power was out from about 2.30 in the morning, it is now supposed to be out till 1.30, and I am cranky even if I am somewhere with power. Irritable and cranky. I mean, I suppose it's better than if we were up on the mountain at which point the length of the power outage could be measured in days. But on the other hand, I suspect if we were up on the mountain I would have been way better prepared for that. Especially since there are a couple of wood stoves, a gas stove, and ... you know, I don't know if we have gas or electric heat on the farm, but still. There are ways and means of staying warm, heating water, and cooking food. In a tinyass apartment in town? NOT SO MUCH.

Ugh. I think, at least, I have solved the structure-of-my-life problems. The netbook is charging, I'll grab my documents from off the web later this afternoon and just write on battery power on the netbook at home. And then the rest of it, the exercises and the guitar and such can be done in the dark. Such as it is.

On the other hand, the number of customers still without power has gone down by 2/3, so who the fuck knows what I'll go home to. Hopefully not spoiled food.

German will go here if I have time to remember before I leave, I take it back, I'm not going to get any writing done with what's going on at work, we're backing up on things to check in, blah blah whine. Still, at least I can download the documents and poke at them even if I'm not able to connect to gdocs/the internet/the 21st century. I will say, I don't mind so much the lack of internet or power. It's the inability to work on my projects in process that pisses me off.
