I'm being run from the inside by a drill sergeant in my head. Forced to do crunches and push-ups and god knows what else on the weekend. Apparently it's for my own good, so I'll look awesome in my Tron costume. Personally, I think it's revenge for making all my characters suffer through my writing.

I'm still not sure what to do about said Tron costume. I think I may just resign myself to an hour of prep or so, with the boy's help; I'll ask him about that when he gets up. Because the more I think about it, the more sewing it to the unitard is the best solution, and there's no way I can do that and not have it take for freaking ever. The other thing I might do, though, is I might undo the back seam, since it sews down the midline of the body, and put in a zipper. Since I'm only using one long piece of 30ft lightwire, to put it on and take it off again I unhook it from the battery pack, undo my zipper, peel it off carefully, put it away carefully, and then I'm just in my under-unitard. ... That might actually work. Holy shit, I might actually be able to do that. Okay then. That cuts my prep-time by a hell of a lot.

Ahem. Anyway. That can happen in a few hours, it's my weekend, I'm damn well relaxing for a little while longer. And watching more Leverage. For those of you who are following along, I've finished Season 1 and Eliot is my new best friend. I've suddenly developed an appreciation for Christian Kane I never had before, and he is far, far hotter in motion than he is in still photos. Just one of those things, some guys are like that. But now I want to run my fingers through his hair. Mm.

(Which is actually also good for my motivations of practicing guitar! Bonus.)

Ooogh. Stuff, things. My thighs are all twitchy from exercise now, gleep. But I am, in fact, awesome. I have black zippers of various lengths floating around my craft room and I ordered white shorts based on what my actual size is and not what my ideal size is, which means they fit and I don't feel terrible in them. Which means I can dye them next weekend. I'd do it today except I don't want to rush around doing ALL the costume things, so, Tron costume is enough. Faye Valentine, IF I decide to go as her this year (seriously, I have Cheetara, Silk Spectre, Tron, and Abby Sciuto assembled, this is getting ridiculous), will be an extra special bonus.

Oof. And at some point later tonight there may be spinning, but I'm not going to put that in as something I have to do today. Just a thought. Mm, so. Today, sewing zipper onto costume. Then stitching on lightwire, hopefully. Making dinner and starting spaghetti sauce. And fucking around. I can do this. This is easy.

I get bored if I have too few projects to do! And then I get beat upside the head by my friends and reminded that I need to schedule in downtime as well. Oops.

I really do want to try and get the Tron costume at least mostly done tonight, though. I stitched up one leg's worth of lightwire and it looks amazing.

I know, I know! My little brother is always giving me anime to watch - I'm a complete Hellsing and Naruto addict, though I blame Crispin Freeman and Liam O'Brien for the most part; Crispin especially though - and I can never seem to find the time for it. Clearly I am a bad person.

And you follow them through, which is more than a lot of people can say!

Will we get to see pictures? Because I'm very curious.

Unfortunately I don't have anyone recommending me anime to watch, so I stick with Trigun and Cowboy Bebop and Akira. Although I never made it through my Trigun rewatch. Hmm.

I know that feeling, though. I need to read through Game of Thrones at some point soon so I finish it in time to discuss it with a bunch of friends. Haven't started yet. Oops.

Well, I try! Right now I apparently need to kick my own ass at less Big Bangs, more working on my novel-in-progress. Oof.

There will be pictures! Either tonight or next weekend, possibly tonight (my tonight, that is) because I need to do a costume pieces check.

I'm lucky in that I have several friends that are big anime fans and so we recommend series's to one another.

Have you seen the series yet? I've heard good things, though there are complaints about certain changes that have been made to the story. Though adaptations are always like that, it seems.

I used to have a cadre of them but, alas, moved away. Now it's mostly anime that's recommended NOT to watch, including one apparently made of breasts. I don't ask further.

I haven't! That's actually part of what got me started, the other part being a friend of mine posted on LJ "Okay, I want to read these through, who's with me." Which makes it infinitely more palatable than if I read them and turn out to loathe them on my own.

This is very true. It's like sharks and swimming.

:D! It's very silly, my costume duffel is about, mm. It's a big duffel. But I do love my costumes, and I love to make them look good, even if not necessarily accurate. As accurate as possible, and good, and something I can wear all day around a con.

...this reminds me far too much of my experimental film project last year. Although it was vaginas, not breasts. And other equally strange and disturbing things.

On the whole they seem to have been given a positive review, though the series is rather dark from what I've heard. That said, that's probably part of it's appeal.

Never. Never, never, ever read Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle! I made the mistake of getting the first book, Eragon, when I heard that they were turning it into a movie and it's awful. What's worse is it's that sort of awful that you still can't seem to put down. Probably because they lace the ink with crack.

Well from the sounds of things it would have to be. You're planning on taking at least, what? Three, maybe four costumes with you? Still I'm sure they'll be awesome. You don't seem the type to do things half-baked.

... All right, then! If I were less scattered I would make a comment about yonic imagery in certain kinds of literature but I can't be bothered to put it together right now.

That's what I've heard, too. Both about the dark and the appeal of it. We'll see.

Oh twitch. I'd heard that, that's up on the list of things never to ever read, along with Twilight. Unless I absolutely have to for some reason or another that had better involve a shitpot of money. Ugh. I mean, yes, I was writing novels at 17 too, but I didn't have a vanity press to publish them, and that's a good thing.

Four costumes, possibly five. I hope they'll be awesome! Times like this having had professional costume shop experience comes in very, very handy. (I did costume construction for four years part time when I was in college, helped pay for my shinies and I got a lot of good experience.)

I think if there were some sort of purpose behind it, I wouldn't have minded as much. As it stood the whole thing felt more like it was the byproduct of the director's sexual frustration than anything else.

It started out bad and it's just gotten worse. Finding an original idea in that quagmire is like finding a grain of salt on a beach.

That's... incredibly depressing. I mean, surely supposed professionals or would-be professionals can either leave their issues out of it or make their issues work to the betterment of the product rather than... oh, never mind.

I will avoid it like the proverbial plague, then!

Really really! I learned a lot about costuming there, especially when people threw things at us like "Hey, I need a big ornate snake dress in four weeks. Oh, and it has to come off her 'cause there's this big scene in the play where the protagonist jumps on her back and starts tearing the costume off of her." And we're all ".... RIGHT. BREAKAWAY SNAKE DRESS IT IS."

It was a fairly clever script on the whole. The problems only really started once we started production. Stupid things, mostly. Things that could have easily been avoided.

Good! Unless, of course, you need a good doorstop or something to prop up a wobbly table.

That could definitely be said, yes. And I learned a lot about the practical aspects of costuming, such as the importance of quick-changes (or when going to a con, quick bathroom breaks!), durability without sacrificing delicacy, necessarily, hidden fasteners... etc.
