So, um. That was an object lesson in stretch before you walk. Or run, or parkour, or anything, really.

So, for the past month or so every time I went out for a walk (and it was a walk, those days) I experienced really painful shinsplints. When I never used to. I mean, it started about ten minutes into the walk and I never used to get these unless I was full-on running. So I started getting a little worried. I did some looking, found some potential causes of shinsplints, upped the protein in my diet a little and only somewhat consistently, and this morning, dumped a five minute yoga routine I'd previously dropped (due to not wanting my muscles to get too used to that exercise, I swapped it out for another) back into my routine, and went for my usual 45 minute walk.

OH LOOK. NO SHINSPLINTS. Duh, Jag. You only started dancing at age, what, six? You know this. Stretch before you exercise. God I'm dumb sometimes. And apparently old enough that I do need to warm up before I do that shit. Or out of shape enough. Or both! Well, now I know. Go Joe.

Tomorrow I start turning the park into my own personal parkour course. Mostly by making an idiot of myself jumping up and down on benches and tree stumps, but hey. Now that I actually have some idea of what I was doing wrong, this ought to be easier. And and there was guitar practice last night, and Wish You Were Here is coming along smoother, and. Um. Well, stuff and things, but damn it feels good to be able to exercise without stopping two or three times to rub the aches out of my legs.
