For all those of you pissed off about LJ's latest idiodicy, at least as far as I'm concerned, I don't have a Facebook. I have a Twitter, but it is not and probably will not ever be linked to LJ. I don't use it much. I watch stars and amuse myself with the wacky things they say, and occasionally use it to "text message" people in other countries. And that's it. No comments will be reposted by me to either site. Just F Y'all's I.
And I agree that it's probably the stupidest decision they've made this year, but I'm hopeful that, given the outpouring of vitriol on at least their news community combined with the surprising lack of anyone going "hey, guys, calm down, it's not that bad," the froth and loathing will convince even the bone-headed money-jackals running LJ right now to take it the fuck back.
Dragon Con tomorrow! Holy shit. I'm going to keep saying holy shit until it's on top of me, probably. And then I will be squished by Dragon. I'm also really and selfishly glad that most of the people cancelling their D*C appearances are either people whose autographs I already have or people who I was waffling on getting their signatures anyway. Except David Hewlett. I shake my fist at you, David Hewlett! I was so looking forward to gushing at you over Nicky Elder. Who no one probably remembers, at least on my f-list. But Sendhil Radamurthy (sp?) and Adrian Pasdar (PROFIT!) and the Weasley twins and half the cast of Firefly and a quarter of the cast of Star Trek and Eddie McClintock and Dean Stockwell and Edward Furlong (who was NOT the guy from Haven, he was the psycho adversary to wossidiot on CSI: NY) and Corin Nemec (who I've only crushed on since The Stand) and Brandon fucking Routh will be there. And Edward James Olmos. I need to get him to sign my unicorn. So, YEAH. It's still going to be flipping awesome.
I've got my costumes mostly together. I've got Silk Spectre assembled and Cheetara mostly assembled, both of them boxed. Bits and pieces yet to sew, in order of importance:
Hem Cheetara unitard sleeve
Bracer (cut out and grommet)
Crotch seam white skirt
Waistband white skirt
Hem white skirt
Hem black skirt
Buttonholes white skirt
Buttonholes black skirt
(White blouse, if time)
The sewing got kind of set back a day by a cat we've seen in the neighborhood. It's someone's cat, and unlike dipshit down the lane, this someone takes care of it. Every time we see it it's well fed, groomed, no mites, no fleas, apparently no worms either because this time we took it in and gave it some food and water and a place to poop. It loved us. It was fine around humans, indoors, even fine in the cat carrier. This time, we took it in because it had blood caked on the inside of its ear, like it had gotten into a fight. Still not sure what happened. So we took it in and cleaned it up, and gave it a bit of water. Then we took it to the vet to see if it was chipped, which he wasn't. But he still seemed healthy, and his nails had recently been clipped, so we let him go. And I think he found his way back home because we haven't seen him again. But that took up the better part of an evening.
Anyway. Sigh. So there's that. And then, writing, too. I need to finish editing Martine. I need to finish writing Desert and the other one. And then when Dragon Con is over I need to edit Martine, Desert (well, and finish Desert) and Long Road and get those all into final draft shape. But with the bulk of the deadlines passed, I also feel a lot of that pressure off, which is a good thing. Now I just need to get my head somewhat screwed on straight and finish this whole outline fleshing out thing...
