Aug. 16th, 2010 09:16 amRussian has two basic verb conjugations. Add endings to the present-future stem. To find this stem, remove the ending ( -ут, -ют, -ят, -ат) from the они form of the verb.
Читаю, читаешь, читает, читаем, читаете, читают
Иду, идёшь, идёт, идём, идёте, идут
е/ё conjugation
For е/ё conjugation verbs, the endings for the first person singular and third person plural forms are spelled –ю and –ютafter vowels and after ь. Otherwise they are spelled -у and -ут.
Говорю, говоришь, говорит, говорим, говорите, говорят
Слышу, слышишь, слышит, слышим, слышите, слышат
For и-conjugation verbs, the ending for the я form is –ю and for the они form is –ят unless these endings would break the 8-letter spelling rule. After the letters г к х ш щ ч ц: do not write -ю but write –у instead, and do not write –ят but write –ат instead.
Советую, советуешь, советует, советуем, советуете, советуют
Танцую, танцуешь, танцует, танцуем, танцуете, танцуют
I can see I'm going to be spending the entire week doing verb conjugation review. This is just fine by me. I'll probably also review verbal aspect, the three verbs for to study, the fifty six thousand verbs for to go (why, Russian, why??) and so on.
Today, writing. And cleaning up my workstation and writing. And clearing things off my list of shit to do. And more writing. And maybe working some on the skirt to finish it up. And probably more makeup tests! It'll be an exciting, busy day. Yay.
