Note that when speaking about Russia, колледж usually refers to a two-year or three-year trade school, somewhat equivalent to a US community college (or tech college). Академия and институт are very close in meaning.

That was a ridiculously easy lesson. Which means either it was ridiculously easy or I got the whole thing wrong, I can't tell quite which and I'm afraid to go back and look and see either way. Meh.

I did, however, get four out of four flatpack bookshelves unpacked and pretty much assembled. Except for not having shelves on them yet. I also need to rearrange my research books because I didn't have all my language books stacked up on them, and now I need more room. Oops. Graphic novels may also be getting moved soon, more towards the bedroom. I need to clean up the junk room some more tonight and get the rest of the gaming books on those shelves. Maybe then if I still need shelf space out front I can put more books on those shelves and the boy can have the spare room for all his gaming books. We really only are in two games, and only one of those sets of books needs to stay out front anyway. Hmm.

Human Target finale tonight! This makes me happy in pants. Mostly because Jackie Earle Haley makes me squirm every time he demonstrates his kung fu skillz. (This is not actually accurate, he doesn't do kung fu. He does tai chi and kempo. But hey.) But also just because it's the Human Target finale, and if it doesn't get renewed I am going to be pissed. And sent lots of chinese food boxes and postcards with crosshairs on them reading 'hey dude' to the studios. Oh yes.

Oogh. I did get the letter, the inspection is Monday, which actually means that we have the weekend to tidy up. On the flip side of that, we do have maintenance coming in today to fix something in the kitchen, which is always awkward and annoying and I have to make sure the floor's clear for that. And make sure that we're not going to get lectured on clutter and everything else. Just ugh. Generally ugh. On the plus side, I found my old notes from a class in college I took on gender in literature and history. A lot of that included either a) primary source references or b) excerpts from primary sources, which will be very useful for the fic I'm working on. Mmm primary source resources. Expanding your horizons since... well, ever. I like primary sources, it gives me more material from which to write fic from a hopefully at least somewhat realistic character point of view, especially when it's something I have little to no experience with, like being a gay male or a soldier or something.

Right. Okay. Rearranging more flatpack. And I need to rework my writing schedule. Again. The short term one, at least, anyway; the long term one won't need much reworking. I need to stop taking on big project after big project. Ugh. At least I still know better than to take on ANYTHING that requires me to work through November. And if one more person mentions ladiesbigbang...

And, someone please explain this to me. Or, no, don't explain, I kind of get it, but at the same time. What is WITH all the putting Rorschach, the character who in my mind is most likely to be a virgin at 45 or however old, in sexual situations? Especially sexual situations involving anything other than plain vanilla sex? Which he is likely to completely and violently flip out over? With less than 2k words of even getting him into that mindset? To me, that kind of situation would require a hell of a lot of setup. Like, 10k words worth. At least.
