* とてもmay be used before よく to express activities that someone does often and for a long time.
やまださんは とても よく べんきょう します。
Yamada-san studies very hard.
* The position of an adverb of frequency in a sentence is relatively flexible. Such an adverb usually appears immediately before the verb, but it may appear before the direct object without any significant change in meaning.
やまださんは じゅぎょうに あまり きません。
やまださんは あまり じゅぎょうに きません。
(both say) Yamada-san does not come to class very often.
*あまり and ぜんぜん can also be used with adjectives. In this case, あまり means not very and ぜんぜん means not at all.
この だいがくは あまり おおきくありません。
The college is not very big
この へやは ぜんぜん きれいじゃありません。
This room is not at all clean.
Create your own sentence by choosing one of the frequency words.
1.びょういんに いきます。病院に あまり 行きません。

4.うちで しゅくだいを します。 家で よく 宿題をします。
5.おふろに はいります。お風呂に あまり 入りません。
6.あさ ほんを よみます。 朝 たいてい 本を 読みます。
Work with your partner. Ask your partner which activity he/she does frequently and what he/she does not do frequently. Then fill in the chart. (Since it doesn’t actually give any activities I’m just going to do random things for each frequency word.)
シャワーをいつも浴びます。
よく晩御飯を作ります。
朝よくロシア語が勉強します。
昼ときどき昼ごはんを作ります。
昼よく日本語が勉強します。
お風呂にあまり入りません。
図書館にあまり行きません。
本屋にあまり行きません。
アメリカン・アイドルがぜんぜん見ません。

First day of the mail order sale was not as bad as it could have been. In either sense, both not as bad as in nobody ordered and not as bad as in I didn't go crazy. Tomorrow promises to be somewhat crazymaking, but today was all right.
Still need to make some Japanese language icons. Actually, I need to make some more language icons in general. And possibly go through and tag my language learning posts with grammar points so I can reference if I need to. Oh my god I am such a dork.
I did fix up my writing schedule, so there's that. I might clean up the kitchen from this morning's mess tonight, but more likely I'll curl up with a big slab of spinach lasagna (omg so good) and do some writing and editing. Mostly editing. I'm actually kind of enthused about all the big projects I have to do, which is something of a first. And I kind of think I can actually finish it. God knows what I'll do when I do finish it and put it up for sale, or what have you, but we'll see? I am kind of sad that I'm doing... not so much that I'm doing Martine for my Big Bang, but the Western world one. Although the way things have been going with my attempts to pitch books to people, might be just as well that I'd have to sell this one on my own. Stupid bloody rejection letters. Which reminds me, I should make time to send out submissions this month, too. Ugh.
This is your note to self, self. Book all your reservations and tickets and shit tonight. Seriously.
