kittydesadeRight. Skipping over the first part because it's write dialogue cold, and I hate that. That goes tomorrow.
In Moscow, you are in a restaurant with a friend who doesn't know Russian. Help him order a meal.
1. Can we get a menu? Принесите, пожалуйста, меню.
2. I don't understand a thing. Do they have any salads? Он не знает русский. Есть салат?
3. I'll get the tomatoes, I guess. Принесите салат из помидоров, пожалуйста.
4. I don't want any soup. Он не хочет суп.
5. Do they have any chicken dishes? Есть курица?
6. Okay. And I'd like to get a Pepsi. Да, и пепси, пожалуйста.
7. How about coffee? Do they have coffee? Есть кофе?
8. I'll take coffee then, with milk, please. Кофе с молоком, пожалуйста.
9. No, that's it for me. Это все для него.
Hurm. Two of those, not sure on. … And I have no idea why I'm lapsing into Rorschach. Heh.
… okay, and dialogues and grammar are the only other things, so I'll leave it there.
Somewhat feeling better today. Did go ahead and order the netbook, which came in about $75 under what I'd budgeted, which was nice. It's got only (ONLY! Christ) 160 GB hard drive, which is way more than I need for what's essentially going to be a portable word processor and juke box, but if I really need more I can get one of those tiny-ass passport external HDs. Which, by the time I actually go ahead and decide I need one, will be huge. Eek. I believe it comes with MS Office pre-loaded, even if it's just the student trial version, but if not, no biggie. And maybe I can figure out some way to load it and license it with the key I have on this computer, or load up open office. It's Royal Blue, and I'd call it Illyria except I'm not the one with an Illyria running around my brain pan, so I'll probably call it the Pocket Ninja.
So, yeah. Feeling somewhat better. Spent the weekend reading comics and halfway fucking off, which wasn't as good as it could have been, but it's not so bad. Read a bit of Watchmen (need to rewrite that Rorschach fic) and some Constantine and Transmet. And Preacher. I need the last four Preachers and the last five Transmets, plus the extra. And I need to read my Dark Towers. Collecting comics is so much easier when there's a finite number of graphic novels and that's it.
Um. I thought I had more to say, but apparently not. Still don't know if the boy has the job but he says the interview was promising and it wouldn't be excruciating to work at. And they'd start him at a good pay level. So. Fingers crossed.
