Best. Creation myth. Ever.
Things wot I have learned from the discussion post on women's (yes, all women, of all shapes and sizes) figures, and the lack of positive words thereof:
Everyone's got a different idea of what "statuesque" means.
Oddly enough, heavier women were the first to be defended or praised in that post, and no mention was made of naturally skinny women. Yes, they do exist. I've known at least two of my own personal acquaintance.
Words people seem to be fond of: Strong, curvy, buxom. Which is just fun to say. Buxom.
Other languages have words that need to be shared outside of those languages. Like zaftig. Or muodokas or lanteikas. Finnish may be my new language to learn, even if finding a textbook is going to be a bitch.
Tangential to that, I don't know but I suspect languages other than English may have words more forgiving of either heavier female bodies or the female body in general. Not sure, yet, though. This may require some thought.
I should really do a post like this for the men. Though they have more words, it's just an interesting study of language in general.
The original post itself is here if anyone wants to poke about comments, weigh in, etc. Above all, be courteous please.
