Ugh. So... yeah.
If the guys at the shop the boy's going to take my computer to (the one he just took his hard drive to, they seemed decent) can't get my computer to at least boot up, it is pretty well and truly fucked. Right now it won't boot up even in safe mode, and Google says the error message I'm getting means I need to boot from the disk.
They can probably lay hands on a boot disk faster than I can, I have no idea where in the pile of crap in the spare room my disks are. So. If my computer really is well and truly fucked, I will just... buy a new one, I guess. Put the entire thing on my credit card, so I don't have to deal with another bill, and just take a little longer to pay it off. I have tax return money coming (I hope. I should think I do anyway.) and birthday money in May, so, that will help.
Ugh. Still not what I wanted to do this week.
Programs to download to the new laptop, which I should remember anyway: Semagic. LJ Archive. FTP Commander. AVG antivirus. SpyBot S&D. Trillian. Firefox. UltraEdit. Remember to add in the language settings. iTunes.
