Dec. 23rd, 2003 05:37 pm"I can't go back, I'm so tired... I killed you, I killed Quartermain. I don't deserve to live." Tom said quietly. "I don't have the strength to live."
"Tom." Huck said. Tom Sawyer looked away and didn't answer. "It's your guilt that killed you, that let you die. You. Must. Live. For America. You must shake off this burden off guilt."
Yet another shining examply of literary genius at the Pit of Voles. Sometimes I wonder how people sleep at night.
And yet, the oddness of the phrase, the trite and cliche dialogue, the overdone and melodramatic concept of living for your country and forging ahead despite loss and trial... not to mention the William Shatner trademark staccato delivery. It's all just so hilarious. It's almost a parody of itself, a mockery of any serious drama. We just couldn't leave it alone.
So now everything is For America. In the spirit of overblown, self-important, unthinking and blind patriotism (not to mention bad writing) we are launching the For America trend. Onward, my friends! We. Must. Live. For America. Our hearts will go on, though they can take our lives they can never take our freedom, we will always love ... whoever. And all, of course, For America.
