kittydesadeSweet Cream Jesus on a Whole Wheat Cracker, why does everyone pick the day we have three people out sick or injured and we're sort of low-manned to begin with on Mondays and Tuesdays to place their gorram order?
On the other hand, the Elf Lord is doing much better. Surgery went very well and apart from a minor incident this morning involving a dizzy spell when he sat up, he's in good spirits and as good health as can be expected. Today is slated forpain and torture physical therapy, so I imagine he'll be a lot less chipper and a lot more "sleep now" this evening. I did talk to him on the phone, though. He mentioned maybe trying to play the whistle or the fiddle at the hospital. Oi, Elf Lord.
Yesterday I got to ride the bus home with Ray-Ray's baby brother and a guy who looked like nothing so much as a cross between Robert Pattinson and the kid who played Tristan Thorn. And the latter was reading The Subtle Knife.
Also something I remembered and meant to post the other day but didn't, about a week or two ago I was walking to breakfast on a Saturday, I think it was, morning, downtown from the parking garage to a cute little dinerbistrothing called the Early Girl. We were walking some distance behind another pair, possibly doing some early errands or heading towards breakfast, everyone was out and about that day. It took me a couple minutes to realize why I had noted this couple, and by that time they were almost around the corner and off our intended path. I realized that I was taking note of them because they were two men, clearly a couple, just holding hands in the way that couples do and walking on their errands and no one paying the slightest mind. No, I take that back. People paid the mind they usually do in downtown Asheville, which is to say that usually they smile and nod or tip their hat.
I love Asheville.
