Okay, there is something slightly wrong with me. Not in the sick or mentally disturbed sense, we already know I'm nuts. But in the the last four times ... five, six times... I've gone out for an all day walking around excursion by eight pm or so, sometimes earlier if we start earlier, I've had a screeching headache, as Bob would say. Which makes me useless for any evening activities people or I may want to do. Such as write, or movie, or stick around for the after party. What the hell.
Am I not drinking enough water, am I not getting enough exercise in the off-times? (Somewhat unlikely.) Too much sun, not enough pre-emptive aspirin? Inquiring minds want to know. And not to spend the last few hours of a really good day curled up on a soft surface with eyes closed and a glass of water and some aspirin clutched in a tight little hand.
Anyway.
FAIRE! Went to Faire. Wound up home by 7pm ish and on the couch by 7.15, but, FAIRE! And yes, I have a bodice burn. There is now a big red splotch right over my boobs. One of these days I will remember to put on sunscreen before I go a faire-ing.
Faire was successful. My ensemble was successful, the boy's ensemble was successful, and his purchasing of boots was successful. The boots that I had purchased for much less than the boots they sell at Faire were actually also successful, so I did not purchase 500$ boots! (Although in actuality they costed less than that. But.) Instead I purchased a pretty little feather fan in brown and gold, to go with probably most of my outfits, and PURPLE FAIRY WINGS.
I think they're about two, three feet in wingspan, and they're butterfly shaped and they're purple fairy wings. The sheer amount of glee I felt upon achieving them was unbelievable. The boy picked them out among the choices I'd narrowed it down to, because I was dithering and had no dice. I may go back and pick up another pair, though, because they actually weren't terribly expensive and I already budgeted to make a ridiculously expensive purchase at Faire. Well, instead I will pick up all those small trinket things that I keep wanting to pick up and never have the cash to. There really aren't that many of those.
We saw the Pirate Stunt show, which was a new show! With a new actor who was young and gothy looking (black hair, pale-ish face, as pale as you can get running around in the Faire sun all day, and red and black and white ensemble) and actually rather cute. The new show was Romeo andJuliet Ruth in 20 minutes. You will understand my meaning when I say Romeo and Juliet, or rather Ruth, or rather... Alfred. Yes. It was bloody hilarious. I kept mouthing the lines they did use from the play, which might have been bad of me, but it was bloody hilarious.
We didn't see too many other shows. It was a Faire of wandering around this year. I eyed up the mask booth for a mask for my fox costume, which, since it's all in black and involves fox heads and such, will now be called my Zorro costume. Which will also be worn when it gets cooler because damned if I'm going to wear that much black when it's 85 degrees out. Uh, no. Yesterday's costume involved a gauze dress and a bodice and that was it. Well, shorts under the dress so I didn't flash my pretty white underwear at everyone. But. No petticoat or overskirt. Too hot.
(And I totally didn't have one. Evidently when I was purchasing the russet gauze I forgot that just about everything else I got was in the blue and green and purple range. Oops.)
We wandered around and chatted with some of the vendors. I was complimented on my garb by a garb vendor, which made me feel pretty good, and on my fairy wings by two people within about five minutes of purchasing them. THAT was fun too. The boy found a scented lotion he likes, which amuses me. We did wind up making it there in time for opening parade. There was mead, sweet honey mead, Valley Vineyards mead which is in fact as good as advertised. And the requisite bread bowl and cheesecake onnastick.
And in two weeks, or a little less now, PIRATES WEEKEND. ARRRR.
