Lo. I ramble.
Mostly I ramble because I'm working on the first of a potentially unlimited set of short stories that are loosely related to this chick-detective-supernatural-usuallyinvolvingvampires craze that seems to be sweeping bookstores near you. Don't believe me? Go to a bookstore near you (at least in the US, I don't know about other countries) and look at all the paperbacks that have their covers turned out. And see how many of them fit that rough description.
Tanya Huff, Mercedes Lackey were the ones I read as a kid. And now I'm re-reading the Victory Nelson books, because, hey, Blood Ties is on Lifetime and while I still feel like I've vaguely betrayed some part of myself by watching that channel, it cracks me up. No offense to people who watch Lifetime. I'm not knocking it so much as, those channels and that sort of programming has never been something I've ever been into. I'm more of a Spike TV/Cartoon Network/movie channels kind of girl.
But. I digressssss. And hiss. Hissssss. Full of snakes, I am.
So, rather than add to the morass of all those kinds of books with my half-dragon series, which I will, at some point, get back to, no really... I've decided to write a bunch of short stories. Very loosely based on nothing in particular. This first story may set the tone for the rest of them, but right now all I have is oh dear god I just realized it's faintly metabiographical. Because the first story I have is a young woman in college who winds up becoming the acolyte of a forgotten god, you'll see why if you read the story I don't want to spoil it for you. Hahah. Those of you who are familiar at Sam are free to point and laugh at me.
But, yeah, that's the first story. I have three paragraphs or four or so of another one, that got writ solely because I was listening to Dido and a feeling gripped me. I have an image of her friend who is a skinny pasty goth boy, and that is entirely your fault,
viridian, because he looks like Ville Valo and is about as shy. And I think he's gay. And really, that's about all I have of this short story series.
Hopefully this is something I can keep up with. I think it is. I've been kicking around bits and pieces of something like this for years. And I'm still working on Pen. That's progress, right? Right.
Anyway. Um. So, I'm going to make a journal, and you guys' job, faithful readers, is to name it for me. Because fuck if I know what I should name it. And I don't have much else going on right now.
