TEZCATLIPOCA (Excolo)
Lord of the Smoking Mirror, god of sorcery, nighttime, darkness, beauty, war, heroic men, beautiful women, and all material concerns. Tezcatlipoca is the Master Magician, a trickster god and shapeshifter, governing all worldly matters, and is also the Great Tempter, seducing men into evil acts and subsequently punishing them for their transgressions. Deep cocoa laced with patchouli, leather armor, ritual incense, and a touch of Xochiquetzal’s flowers.
Do we see why I wanted to try this one? Yes.
In the bottle the cocoa is not blending well with the patchouli and incense. In fact it's fighting with it. The cocoa comes out on top first, and then the incense. It'd be funny if it weren't so depressing. I like this name for a scent! Maybe if I shake it? Huh. That actually kind of worked.
On my wrist my skin apparently gives the incense and patchouli and maybe the flowers the winning edge. Cocoa goes down! Still no sign of leather. Alas, this probably won't be a bottle either. I'm just striking out on the Central American mythos based ones.
On the second try, the cocoa goes down a little quicker, the leather comes up a little quicker. I'm just still not sure if this is a bottle or not, but it takes a couple minutes for it to settle down. I just. Yargh. Maybe this is a bottle after I've gotten all my other bottles and tried everything else. It certainly does, at least, have the benefit of not being like any other scent I've tried.
WHITECHAPEL (Wanderlust)
A gentlemen's blend, possessed of dignity, charm and refinement, but in truth masking a corrupted, hideous, soulless core. White musk, lime, lilac and citron.
Since I just got done watching Casino Royale I'm going to go with this smelling, in the bottle, like that drink Bond concocted. Never mind that I have no idea what it would smell like. I am, therefore, smelling the lime and citron more than anything else I would say. And there's a whiff of lilac underneath. For some reason not what I associate with Whitechapel.
The musk comes out a little as I let it set on my wrists, but not much. Now I'm just smelling like a dusty Vesper. Still not what I associate with Whitechapel, but it's cracking me the hell up.
Unfortunately as it sets it's slowly heading towards baby powder. I'll see how it wears in the next couple hours, but the first little while isn't promising. Which, damn. I wanted to like this one.
