[Writing... mostly]
Mar. 1st, 2007 11:43 amUgh. Woke up at about 5.15, 5.30 last night with the worst cough ever and could not get back to sleep. This, plus the thunderstorm, plus the Max-dog's reaction to the thunderstorm (being a Katrina rescue he does not take these things well) means a sleepy Jag at work.
But the upside? The Goddess smiles; we signed the VTO board, I took three or four phone calls, had a team meeting for maybe half an hour and then got to go home! At which point I was no longer sleepy, but at least if I fall asleep it's not a big issue.
So. This is March Madness! Comment on this post! Provide any or all four of these and I'll write you a short fic based on what you give me:
1)a character type( ex: fighter, supernatural being, geek, criminal, artist)
2)a genre(horror, comedy, romance, scifi)
3)a time period
4)a random element--some object or detail to be included or excluded(anything goes.)
And yes, I do know I still have back prompts to write. For SO MANY THINGS. I'm working on them! Honest. Really and truly. I was on vacation last week and then sick for half of this week, so. Yech. But. Will get started on prompts today! I feel very much of the better. As far as I remember I have: Writing prompts as per the tag on this journal, Sam's ficlets, Big Damn Table, Big Damn List, and the Caleb/Pogue table. Now March Madness, too. Someone let me know if I'm missing anything. That isn't part of those catagories or a weekly prompt, because I know I have weekly prompts.
I have managed to achieve only original characters in TM. This is much to the good, as it keeps me writing original things regularly, things that can turn into inspiration and enthusiasm for original projects. I have also managed to go for almost an entire we... two weeks without a rejection letter. Which means I have seven (seven? Yes, seven) query letters out there that have not yet been accounted for. One of which I should have followed up on while I was still in DC and could have visited the agent in question. Oops. Fuckit.
But, next week means query letters going out. Being as I also have a new resolution, it also should mean short stories going out. Since I just adopted this resolution a week ago, I'll go easy on myself and only require two short stories to go out. But. This is the new resolution. First week of every month: At least four query letters, and at least four short stories. And in this way, I will build up more writing credits, and get better, and become published. More. Yes. It'll be fan-tabulous. And now I channel Eddie Izzard.
Goddess save me, I'd forgotten how damn well good it feels to be healthy. Even mostly healthy. The past few weeks have been utterly crap.
