Possibly I'm looking forward to this a little too much. But it's like Christmas! Or Kinder eggs with a nifty little toy surprise inside.
So I did wind up joining Urbis, thanks to
analise. I'm not sure if it's the new fad going around LJ or just around this group of people/friends. It's interesting? The good part is you have to give a lot of reviews to see the reviews people have written about your work, approximately but not exactly a 1-1 ratio, so your work gets peer-reviews. The bad news is you have to give a lot of reviews to see the reviews people have written about your work. Yes, I'm a snob. I hate reading bad material.
But it'll be a good way for me to practice my critical yet loving reviewer skills? And it's a good place to post stuff I'm working on if I want to get feedback on it, I guess. Not the stuff itself but character building, dialogue exercises, etc. Stuff I don't necessarily want to get published but have to write because it's good practice.
Covenant bunnies are coming along, but slowly. No fast-paced bunnies I can just throw to the wolves, these. No, these are things I have to unfurl a little bit each day. Probably because one's the slow (further) decline of a psychopath and the other's angst and suicide and the boys tearing themselves apart. Maybe not suicide. But it's bad. Other fic continues apace too, now that House is back on I can actually find their voices again. House is just one of those people that if I'm not watching the show, it goes straight out of my head. There are a few others, I'm sure you've noticed them by which ones are last in the queue. Or at least, which ones I've been procrastinating a lot on.
Also, today is Friday! Which means today ends my week of enforced no novel worky. Today I get back to editing the novel, writing exercises and stuff to flesh out the characters who have naught but skin and bones still (One of them being the grandmother, which, bleh) and maybe poke a few of the other quieter-when-I'm-not-noveling characters (I'm looking at you, ex-boyfriend.) and outline the two sequels, maybe take some notes on a couple other ideas. Plus a whole list of other chores. But this is the easy part. The stress comes when I submit it.
In summation: BPAL! Urbis! Novel! Yay!
