Jan. 10th, 2006 10:23 pmDo you believe in coincidence or synchronicity?
I shall begin with lyrics.
A sleep trance
A dream dance
A shared romance
Synchronicity
-- The Police, "Synchronicity"
And now that I've got that out of my system.
I believe in both. I believe in coincidence because everything is possible, and the varying levels of probability mean that somewhere, at some point, I'm going to take a wacky order from a Jack and Jill who live on One Hill Lane or something stupid like that.
I also believe in synchronicity.
Lots of people believe in coincidence. I'm not sure so many people believe in synchronicity, but I do. Partially because of things that happen. Because of the ability to go back and forth without missing a beat, or skipping a stitch. Because of dreams I've had and anniversaries that are coming up. Because of bonding and bondage and a silver horse on my finger. Because of all the things I've seen and done and all the moments that lined up just perfectly to get me where I am today.
There was a conversation I had with someone, once. Recently, in that hideously nasty depressive episode I went through a little bit back. I needed security. I got it, and I'm not sure I can properly express how good that felt. It was comforting when I needed comforting and I bounced for the next three days, which was a novelty considering I was still crying randomly. Anyway. We discussed magic. Effect before cause. Is that what this is?
Synchronicity, is what this is.
I see it a lot in my life. I believe it's there, even if no one else does (and isn't that what defines synchronicity anyway?) and I see it a lot. And even if it's just moments strung along a thread, I believe in it. And for some strange reason, more often than not, it gives me something to hold onto. A way to find a place to stand. Or people to stand with. You're always going to be someone else's someone else. So why not you, now, here?

In other news, the 'tec novel, synopsis, and query letter (or at least what needs to be done of the novel) have totally been done for three days and I haven't submitted it. Somebody hit me?
