kittydesade: A stack of old, slightly tattered cloth-bound hardbacks next to a porcelain cup of tea on a saucer (quiet day of reading)
Oh holy hell I did not realize how messed up in the head I have been from lack of sleep until I got 6+ hours twice in a row and suddenly everything is clearer now. So so much clearer. I'm still coughing, but it's entirely possible I'll just spend the next six weeks coughing. So it goes.

I did make it out of the house for some hours of work, despite the roads being horrifying and icy. In the case of the local roads even mine hadn't been plowed when we left, which I thought was odd given that it's the main connector between two major roads especially for emergency vehicles. But we made it in without incident, worked a couple of hours, UPS made only one trip by instead of two which was a good sign that we were right to leave early, and bleh.

It's messing with my head. I had a week off of work, two days back, then one day with a short schedule and I have no concept what a normal routine is anymore.

I'm slowly pulling back to normal routines anyway. Getting some writing done, I worked on Long Road and I'm almost done with the Plague of the Spanish Lady. That was fun, I brought it over to my aunt's while they were keeping an eye on me in the midst of my sleep deprivation state, I read bits and pieces of it and my Aunt was all "What are you even reading?" where my Uncle was all "Oh yes, and then this and this and this other random sometimes horrible thing" My uncle's not blood kin but you can definitely tell he had an influence on me growing up.

I also finished Fran Wilde's Bone Universe series and books 1 and 2 of Martha Wells' Chronicles of the Raksura while I was having panic attacks from sleep deprivation and not quite hallucinating but it definitely wasn't a fun time. But Horizon and then The Cloud Roads and The Serpent Sea were amazing fun. And then I got the third book because dammit I need to find out what happens next on, as one reviewer so aptly put it, Days of Our Draconic Lives. I have five other books I should be reading, one by Ksenia Anke and The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco and I'm probably going to devour all the Raksura books first. Oops. The Bone Universe and the Raksura are both very accessible fantasy series, the Bone Universe is a shorter series than the other, but the Bone Universe is somewhat more lyrical? in tone and the Raksura novels regularly have people threatening to smack each other upside the head in the manner of your average CW hero show friendly bickering.

And tomorrow I need not to forget to input my words into their proper documents and take account of the words I've written over the last two days. Some habits are harder to come back than others.
