Slowly getting marginally more consistent about doing Arabic on the weekdays. Though, heh, it's weekends and Hindi where I really screw up, I'm going to have to go back to the beginning again. And I think this time rather than waste a lot of frustration dealing with ink bleeds on the notebook, I'll just use a regular pen and notebook. I've got some spare softcover moleskines anyway because the local bookstore only sells the skinny three packs. I just. Argh. Today I should probably spend at least a little bit of time at work practicing the Arabic letters I do know so I don't lose them. Not entirely sure how to do that immediately, but I may be able to find worksheets online.

In today's feral news, though, I still have the friendliest ferals I've ever met. I brought out Barton's food this morning and we touched nose to finger, and then when I went out to check if there were more cats Cassius was coming up the walk, so I reached out a hand to pet him and, yep. Could still pet him. A lot. He rubbed up against my leg and purred and pretty much stuck around as long as I was willing to pet him. And then BatCat showed up (Yes, the new one's name is BatCat) and I stuck my finger out for a greeting, and to my surprise BatCat leaned his/her? head forward and first touched nose to my finger. Then ran his/her cheek along my finger to scratch around mouth and cheek. Then the third time that happened I got a BatCat basically rubbing head against my hand, so I petted the silly cat! At this point, with the exception of Barton (and possibly Little Bit, who's gotten way more skittish of us recently, I'm not sure if that has to do with Tiny Bit or something else) I now have more ferals who will allow me to pet them than not. I'm not entirely sure what to do with this, but it's not helping the ADOPT THEM ALL urges. Really not.

Ugh today. SO many things to do and prep today. Prep White Lightning so all I have to do is scroll through and edit (I'm doing this kind of as I speak so I get it straight in my head, so at least by the time I post this most of it'll have been done). Do the rest of the bigger Sandborn edits and then keep going for another two scenes on that document. Do a bunch more words in County Witches. The aforementioned Arabic practice, some physics, and some knitting because I'll probably end up being at the front. Then when I get home after capoeira which also means making sure I have everything in my capoeira backpack, casting the next month's cards, Astronomy class, and poking at the Long Road timeline to prep for Nano, I expect. I know I'm going to be too tired to write, so watching videos and knitting and wikisurfing will be about all I'm up to. Ugh.

Although looking what I'm doing on White Lightning, it looks like I can dispense with the outline comparison and just keep going and write up a new outline once I'm done with this next draft. I think. If I'm ever done with it. Although maybe now that I'm out of the part where things were confusing about what to establish and meandered, and into the sequential action, it'll be easier? Oh god and I'm supposed to have this done by the end of next month augh. I have way way too much to do and way too little time. As per usual.

One thing at a time I guess. Also as per usual.

Throwback Thursday (yes I know it's not Thursday shut up) to finding Murdock over Nanowrimo, as it turned out. I found this post because I took a wild hair to go through and fill in all my old Nano novels. I don't remember when that data got erased, but I did find most of the titles, word counts, etc from my old novels from journal entries, gdocs files, etc. Some of them were really awful.

Wednesday Reads! Apart from my awful old writings, I did read The Paper Magician by Charlie Holmberg (who it turns out is a woman, if such things make a difference to you) on Saturday. Because, see, the other two were in the Kindle Daily Deals, and I figured if I got a quarter of the way into the book I'd be able to tell if I wanted to get the rest. So I did, and then I did, and then I did, and then I read all three of them (Glass Magician and Master Magician are the other two) in very short order. I may have ended up doing a whole lot of reading instead of writing. Oops. In my defense, they're very cute and engaging books, if not terribly deep or rich in dramatic ways. But it's fluffy and fun, and I like that. The romance was laid on a tad thick, but other than that.

I can't actually remember if I've read any other fiction in the last week. Non-fiction, though!

I'm working through Gotham: A History of New York City to 1898 because of reasons and novel writings. It is, however, 1400 fucking pages long. So I'm taking it in bite sized chunks. It's actually pretty engaging even for being a doorstopper. And it's already yielded some facts I may throw in, or at least fun little details.

I may or may not finish Mad Madam LaLaurie, which I'm maybe close to halfway through, and which I started at DragonCon when I was waiting in Yet Another Line for something, but then got distracted upon coming home. It's not for anything in particular, though, so I don't know when I'll finish it.

I've been kind of reading The Thames Torso Murders for background for another work I started and haven't even posted an update on yet oops. But again, that may have to wait in favor of finishing projects before I keep going on something new.

And other upcoming. I need to finish Zeroes and Shadowshaper still, and after that I think it might be the Brian McClellan book Promise of Blood or if the BF's done with Six Gun Tarot I might work on that. I've got a couple Batman and a Superman and a Wonder Woman comic to read from back when I was taking that superhero course, and I might just get all of those over with at once.

Word count for this week so far is 3,675 though I may try to finish out the week's count tonight after capoeira. (Stop laughing. It could happen.) And superhero training, with the capoeira, continues apace. At less of a pace around DragonCon with all the irregularity after that, but it continues. Theoretically I have a roda this weekend, but Saturday has gotten so fucked I have no idea how much of that I'm going to make it for. Going to ask Capoeira Groot this evening if it's okay if I show up late. Augh too many things going on.
