Well, fine, LJ. Fuck you too. (Really, this is the best reason to have cross-posting between journaling services. One's down? Post on the other! You still have access to most of your old data, and it'll all update eventually.) Fucking LJ, that was a somewhat engrossing and interesting conversation.

Oof. YES. Got pretty far on Wish You Were Here, and did a bunch of background stuff for novels and big bangs and things and got lunch made for today and everything done and Japanese mostly conquered! And pretty pretty Bruce while I do Russian. And. Stuff. I've done stuff! And it doesn't look like it's too rainy outside, which is good because I really don't want to go to the bus in the rain. And. Can you tell how hyper I am now? Right, today, finishing up stuff for deadlines, and then trying to finish the damn Black Ice story so that I can take notes and figure out what the hell is going on. And maybe doing another scene in the Sons of Anarchy-demon biker fic. I should also figure out what's going on in that world besides demon bikers. It might give me more plot eventually. Ooh. Demon bikers dealing succubus porn. Ahem.

Blargh. The only problem with being this hyper is I end up having difficulty focusing. Right. Gathering stuff and heading to work first of all, and then taking things one task at a time till my focus comes back.

One of these days, maybe when I hit Arabic standard, some man in a cheap suit is going to come knocking on my door and I'll disappear into the suburbs of DC. Sweartogod.

Japanese may or may not happen tonight, it might turn into a vocab and kanji review, but since grocery shopping is happening it will happen after I get home from groceries and after I get done with writing, because at this point writing deadlines >>> Japanese daily practice. Especially since one of them is FUCKING TOMORROW AUGH JAG YOU HAVE EVERYTHING 90% DONE HOW DID IT GET THIS LATE AND YOU NOT FINISH IT. Ahem.

It's about that time where I need to remind myself of all the shit I do on a daily basis, so I'm going to do it. I get up. Exercise. Make breakfast, sometimes assemble lunch. Shower. Put on earrings and scent and whatever else of self care I need to face the day. Study Russian. Watch a little TV while I do all this. Check email, check incoming work packages. Get dressed, walk over, carpool to work. I do my day job as well as assembling links for wiresandlights, as well as writing, as well as sometimes my own creative projects. Come home. Make dinner. Practice guitar. Study Japanese. Write. Spin or knit or wind down a little, read a little. Go to bed. Get up and do it all over again. Over the course of the past year or so I have been studying Japanese, studying Russian, studying German, practicing guitar, practicing pennywhistle, knitting, spinning, costuming, playing, reading, writing, exercising and getting fitter, managing my life and my household. Of, granted, one other human and four cats, but still. My apartment is most of the time pretty tidy, and I do not fall behind on my bills. This, to me, is an awesome thing.

Every so often, it's good for us to list off all the shit we get done, all the reasons we're awesome. We spend a fair lot of time being modest, and that's a good thing, but it's also a good thing for us to remember that we are damn fine human beings, and not only to tell ourselves that (which sometimes works but not as often as self-help literature would have you think) but also to tell ourselves why. These things are hard, that we do. We all have tasks we struggle with. And when we do them, and do them well, we should now and again stop to remember and appreciate this. The skills we master, the tasks we juggle, the things we do. It's good to value yourself; it helps you appreciate the value of others.

And now for something completely different: An AIDS vaccine ready for human trials.
