He laughed when she told him, shivering and thin. She hated that he laughed, threw something at him, but it missed his head without him even having to duck. Her friends had to escort her out.

She'd be back. She was tangled up in him still, narrow wisping threads all running sticky through her, full of nights spent gasping and little touches along her skin that she would miss when she was gone. That little catch in her breath when he whispered in her ear, she'd miss that. The way he tasted. The way he cooked for her out of cafeteria things, the way he talked to her. She'd miss all of those.

He watched her friends supporting her through the day, none of them leaving her alone for long. The dog-shifter was at her side when the weird gay kid wasn't. He still didn't know what was up with the boy, but something wasn't right. Something was churning inside him like thunder, and it called to Jared so much and so hard that he got a stiffy just from being in the kid's presence. Which was why he picked Paige, instead. She had a lot of the same wanton energy and less of the danger.

Except when she threatened him with her Louisville Slugger, nicked and pitted from years of use. That was less dangerous and more cute.

Tie-Dye Experiments
1/4 cup Urea, 1 tsp dye - Rainbow, Pink and Green, Yellow and Green
1/2 cup Urea, 1/2 tsp dye - Purple Blue and Pink, Yellow and Pink, Yellow and Purple
1/4 cup Urea, 2 tsp dye - Purple and Green, Blue and Red, Blue Purple Red and Green.

Notes:
Make sure your shirts or whatever you're dyeing are only damp to the touch, not dripping with soda wash. If they're dripping, the dye will drip too (duh) and you'll make a hideous mess all over everything.

Steamer bags to set, seven minutes is what I tried this time. It seems to work, but we'll see. It might be two times seven minutes next time.

If the soda wash is still wet and runny, it makes the shirts a lot more coated with dye. There's much much less white, the dye patches are much less defined. Not entirely a bad thing, it depends on what kind of a look you want to go for.

Oof. So, I finished my novel for Novel BigBang. I start another one tomorrow what with Nano, and I'm so not ready for that. I'm going to be prepping as I write. On the plus side I'm not aiming to get the whole giant shebang done this month? Just the first section of roughly 50,000 words. So there's that. I also managed to get some of the shirts done and some of the craft room tidied. And the boy got me some Halloween eggs. Yay!

I'd have more to say here but I'm still recovering from getting through most of the deadlines. Languages resume tomorrow, and I think I'll be glad to get back to routines. Hell, I'm glad to have two days in a row off. And no phonecalls from family. I think. Thank god.

Title: Mad Angel Blues
Source: Mad Angel Blues
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Characters: Martine, Joss, Alais, Paula, Messenger
Summary: Martine's life began six years ago, as far as he knows. And it's a good life, with two wonderful women and a job that pays the bills, the only major downsides to his life are his inability to remember anything before the past six years and the migraines and aches that strike without warning. Then things get abruptly worse, with his primary, Alais, exhibiting odd flashes of hateful behavior and mysterious strangers claiming to know him from long ago. But it turns out that it's Joss's sheer stubbornness and faith in the people she loves gives him the strength and the direction to fight to keep the life he's built against both old brothers and old enemies.
