"... well, that rules you out, Pippin..."
Aug. 21st, 2003 11:05 amDo you know where the word 'boycott' came from?
I didn't until a few minutes ago, tell you that much right now. This book is really sort of interesting.
And I'm nowhere near the end. I'm on paaaaaggee.. *checks quick*107/650. So I guess I'm a little under 1/6 of the way through. I'm further than I thought. Hopefully I can get a good chunk of headway today, maybe make another 1/6 ... I might not even fill both of the notebooks I bought, not with this book anyway. The stack of books that I got out from the library is so much taller... but then, they're less read-write-regurgitate than read-analyse-take notes. So, hey.
Feeling so much better for a good shower, a good long random RP session with
cruelest_month and a good sleep. I swear, the characters in our stories, specifically in that particular group of stories, is getting stranger and stranger all the time. They have their own LJ now, did I mention that? They do... All five of them. They're living at
kaneresidence and one of them is bothering me to update at the moment. *glares at Sebastian* You wait your turn!
Honestly. Characters these days. No respect, I ask you.
Oh well... Today should be a day of interest. There might even be a bonfire tonight, if the weather holds... and it should hold. It's supposed to be ridiculously humid but not at all rainy for the next couple days. And ridiculously hot. Stupid August. Stupid midwest. At least it's not as hot as it was last summer. In my room, with crappy air circulation and no air-con, I'd be ... well, really, I'd be over at the bf's house. All the time. But still.
Bleh. I'm suffering theatre withdrawl again. I really hope I make enough money... and damned soon... to be able to take a quick weekend up at Stratford and see at least a couple of plays, even if it's just in the nosebleed seats. Hell, hopefully by this time next year, I'll be able to go a couple times in the summer. I miss Stratford. I could quite happily live there for the rest of my life, if only the bf would come. It's gorgeous, it's got great theatre... big open areas of land in which to stable horses... what more could I want?
Ah, sigh. Oh for a damned decent theatre place around here. That was, I suppose, the one good thing about living in DC. Easy access to the Folger, the Lansburg, the Arena, the KenCen... Parents and grandparents willing to go with you...
Okay. Back to the books.
EDIT:
Okay. I'm getting waaaay too specific here. No one wants to know the name of a Boer general in South Africa in 1880. And if they do, I'll get it on the second pass in this book. General notes will get me through a lot quicker...
I'm such a nerd.
The To-Do List, lacking in distraction power
1.Take notes on D, E, maybe F.
2. Tidy shelves/file cabinet
3. Write next chapter in Understanding Postponed till the stupid worm goes away, at least a bit.
4.Organize/start web page for history project. The web page is now called Moore University. AKA The History of the World According to Alan Moore. Why? Because we love him.
