kittydesade: (aaooowww!)

I'm not likely to get much further behind in tech school but if I manage to stay only a week behind at this point it'll be a bloody miracle.

And it's not anything to do with the school! So, Cassius is at the vet, we asked if we could quarantine him here and they said no. So that's fine, we're still going to clean up the craft room so we can put both him and Barton in there when he gets back, because the boy and I are both fairly settled on "Okay, That's Enough Of That." They're at least seven year old cats, Cassius sometimes walks stiffly in winter, that is enough of them having outside lives. I don't know if anyone we know is willing to adopt a bonded pair of large older black cats of indeterminate gender (Cassius is almost certainly a boy and I think the vet's been using male pronouns, Barton is still an enigma), but if not they can run around our house too.

They did finally get to examine him ... Saturday morning, I think? What he had was not a tooth abscess but a puncture wound that had gotten infected, apparently pretty badly by the size of the swelling in his face. They gave him antibiotics, and he's doing fine, sullen but fine, at last check. It is thankfully less than a week before we get him back but I'm still going to be nervous until he comes back to us. In the next day or so if the boy gets better we're going to finish cleaning the craft room and grab Barton and stuff him in there so he has time to get used to thinks before Cassius comes home.

And that's another thing. So, last week the temperature did another rise-and-fall, got up close to a high of 80F and then dropped to daily highs of around 65F, and by the end of the week I was coughing up mucus again, what fun. The boy had started to get sick this time, too. Saturday he was fine, Sunday he was all right but sick enough to want Chinese takeout for hot and sour soup, so we got a bunch of that. Sunday night at four in the morning (so maybe Monday morning) he lurched out of bed and towards the bathroom sweating like the proverbial sinner in an equally proverbial church, no fever, but with vertigo bad enough even when sitting or laying still to have to throw up in a trash can. Two and a half hours later we got him back into bed, somewhat hydrated, and back to sleep. But today he's still vertiginious? vertigo'd. Which I think is a side effect of the head cold he has/had but which, since he's been the one who's had the most contact with other humans, is still a worry. Not that vertigo is a common symptom of coronavirus! I didn't even know if it was a symptom, in Wuhan observations it apparently occurred in 8% of cases, but still. There's a pandemic on, and any severe illness is a worry.

He does seem to be doing better today, but that's still an asston of housework I didn't want to have to do while trying to catch up on labs and worrying about one of my cats and I just. It's been a rough past couple of days. I spent all Saturday doing one damn lab (a huge lab, but still one damn lab!) and Sunday doing very little, mostly art, because I was exhausted, and now I'm back to labs again. Or really, to be honest, putting off labs to do housework. So I guess I'd better get back to it.

But anytime life wants to step off of this house would be grand, thanks.

ETA: hahahahaha I also completely forgot that we had a meeting Friday night with a couple new players in the area to see if they wanted to join the game (all gaming activities are on Discord for the moment though) and when we finally surfaced after a few hours of chatting and a quick grab of fast food burgers and shakes the GOP covid news had broken and that's been part of the wild ride, too.
