Dec. 11th, 2019 10:21 amI keep meaning to come back and start posting daily or every other day on here. And then it keeps not happening. I looked back to figure out why I stopped and the last couple posts, I guess I got shook out of my routines. Well, not getting shook every day by politics, by life, that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon. Exhibit A, Wednesday's executive order literally out of the Nazi playbook. That's all I'm going to say about that, except also that no, I'm not okay. I'm tired, I'm scared. I don't want to leave the house for weeks.
What's been happening? DragonCon was fun, I had a memorable and snuggly meeting with Matt Ryan, I got to talk to Steven Strait and he was absolutely adorable and charming and a good sport about The Covenant. And he had no line so I got to talk to him a lot. I saw a lot of my friends. My panels were fun. I met Melanie Scrofano and she was amazing and fun to talk to. My crow puppet got a lot of attention to the point where I scrapped all my costuming plans and walked around with him on my shoulder all weekend.
Life since then has been not awful? Except, you know, everything in US politics. But I got to see The Hu which was amazing. I went to Dave and Busters with the boy and a friend before the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert, we had a lot of fun, I came home with two ginormous dog plushies. And a couple stuffed cats, one of whom had the Ziggy Stardust lightning bolt. Because some things never change. We're going to see Cirque in February because the ticket prices, though they've escalated in the last couple years, dropped again to something we could afford. Which is nice. I miss our annual random Cirque show.
I'm still writing, I did Nanowrimo although I'm probably going to scrap that entire draft, though not the concept. I've also, after trying out a bunch of different art mediums that I'm still going to do, I still enjoy them, but I've discovered that marker is the perfect medium for my passion. Cartoony, anime style drawings. I got a collection of very inexpensive alcohol markers, I'm doing a bunch of drawings that are pencil sketches finished in pen and then alcohol marker, and I'm planning on picking up a terrifying number of copics around Christmas. I've almost got the office finished renovated? Right now the main thing that's stopping me is it's a mess and i need to spend some dedicated time cleaning it. Maybe I'll do that by way of a coping mechanism, that might help. I really need to pick up in there so I can move the bookshelves in and finish picking everything up, and have space to put everything. After that... yeah, I don't know.
It's been a rough twenty four hours. I'm sure it'll get better and then worse again before it gets better on the average.
ETA: So it turns out that's not what the EO says at all, the NY Times blew the story with possibly deliberate malice, and I am just... I'm going to yeet myself or them into the sun, I'm not sure which.
