kittydesadeI got my bass! It is gorgeous, it's perfect for my needs which are not numerous: functional bass I can practice on. And it's functional, it's more than functional I could probably do amateur gigs with it, and I can give Elf Lord back his bass and the less intricate amp and I have everything I need to start making metal music. I'm practicing both of them, my fingertips are still callusing up again but eeeeee I am so happy.
And we went to Dave and Busters after dropping the bass off at the house. Went to the Mongolian grill, went to the arcade, played absurd games, it turns out the friend and her brother had never been to D&B before so we got to show them all our favorite games. I kicked ass at Kung Fu Panda and we didn't see a new large stuffed animal that we wanted so we came home with two medium sized stuffed animals. That equals a large, right? I spent most of Sunday recovering from Saturday and the last couple of weeks, so, sitting around, doing a bit of sweeping and mopping (the addition of the swiffer really does make a difference in whether or not I keep the floor clean, still observing whether or not the boy uses it) and playing silly match-three games.
I have made semi-firm plans with the boy to get lumber to make bookshelves, which may take two weekends or only one, I'm not sure, depends on how long it takes stain to dry, I guess? Or if I want to stain them afterwards? I should remember to ask him that later tonight. Either way, BOOKSHELVES. Fucking finally. And then depending on how much it costs to get the bookshelves made maybe cube shelves too, and then some pen cups and things at the container store and then my office will be fucking complete. Once I move my music shit back in there.
I feel so much more relaxed after shit stopped going sideways, I stopped having to juggle quite so many things and could pick up some of the things I'd dropped, and... well, in general. Having a weekend of fun and relaxation (first fun, then relaxation) has helped a lot. Getting some room to breathe, getting a big thing taken care of, the next major thing that's coming up (apart from building bookshelves) is DragonCon. The boy went to Origins and came back without incident. I feel calmer. I feel like I've got a handle on things. It's a hell of a relief.
Plus I have a new bass. Did I mention. Hearteyes, motherfucker.
