kittydesade: (what is christmas)

It's absolutely horrid out. It's snowing giant huge flakes, the sidewalks are already wet, the only saving grace is that it's not as cold as northern climes where apparently it's getting down to -60 with wind chill. Fairly sure that's literally arctic temperatures. Yikes. Stay warm, all my northern friends.

There was no checking in yesterday because I spent most of the day being exhausted, about to fall over, falling asleep at my desk, and reading. I finished The Hidden Land on the weekend at some point and got into The Whim of the Dragon and decided that I needed to finish that to the exclusion of all else, which I did early this morning after passing out a few times in between. Turns out to the exclusion of all else does not mean sleep too; my body had other plans. The books are exactly that absorbing and exactly that much catering to my id, I highly recommend them if you like what I guess is now called portal fantasies? Narnia and The Five Children and It and other such things. Madeleine L'Engle and now, The Secret Country.

Despite spending my alleged extra sleeping time reading yesterday I do seem to feel better or more awake. Whether or not more awake translates to better is a question whose answer varies from moment to moment. I still feel like I've got some form of lung congestion. But I'm awake, I'm moving, I'm getting my work done. I'm eyeballing the weather outside where it's currently coming down in huge aggressive flakes. We may go home early today for better hiding under the blankets.

Plus side, I did get my prescription refilled, so I'm good to go for another thirty days or more, not sure when the next prescription to run out runs out.

It's quiet at work. If I can push my sulking over the weather out of the way I should be able to get some writing work done. And of course, yet more filing. But there's a lot of sulk about the weather and a lot of wanting to do nothing but curl up under blankets and drift. I suppose I can start small, with language exercises or something.

ETA: Thankfully it looks like the aggressive snow and even the sleeting rain stopped shortly after I posted this, and with any luck there wasn't enough accumulations to cause ice slicks on our mountain roads with steep drop-offs. Even in the town there's a fair number of those, and it always makes everyone incredibly nervous when the ice comes out.
