So. Stan Lee.

I don't know what to say. I never met the man despite having a couple of opportunities at DragonCon events, I just didn't have the energy to fight the mob to meet him although I probably should have. I know there was controversy around many things he did, in relation to Kirby and elseways. I also know he wrote and worked on some of the foundational works of the new mythology, comic books. Someone on Twitter said that it was like saying "Hey did you hear the guy who wrote Athena, Zeus, and Aphrodite died?" and yeah, it's true. We don't relate them to our world in the same way the Greeks related their gods to their world but they have the same kind of influence on us. They were wide-spread and eventually with enough time and circulation universal stories. Of love, loss, complication, trying to do the right thing, fighting impossible odds. By all first hand accounts I've seen he was a kind, generous, friendly man who loved his fans and their enthusiasm not just for the works he'd directly written but for comics in general.

So I guess that's what I've got to say. May his memory be a blessing to all those who knew and loved him, whether directly or through his work in comics.

I'd hoped today was going to be a quieter day where I could get some filing done and get my desk tidied up and things put away and no. No, today's going to be one of those days where there's ten thousand small fiddly things to do at work and two or three very large time consuming things to do and I have to reconcile them both. On top of Nanowrimo, Nanowrimo, Huevember, and grocery shopping and all I can say is I am damn glad I'm medicated up to proper energy levels because hoo boy.

I don't remember if I updated everyone in one place about the dyehouse situation so as it currently stands: we have three dye houses we're currently discussing with, all of them have samples of our yarn pre- and post-dye. Two of them are established businesses I know well, with a thriving business right now and unlikely to go bust in the next few years, the third I've never heard of. And one of those two has outright asked us what our priorities are for dyeing so! Things are looking very promising. I'm not sure which of these we'll end up going with, but I am considerably calmer than I was a few weeks ago.

Except for the part where today is going to be absolute fucking chaos but whatever. I've dealt with that before, I'll deal with it again.
