Sep. 5th, 2018 12:22 pmHome from DragonCon! Exhausted, slowly recovering from the loss of my con bag that had a lot of the crap I use day to day in. And some autographs, and a present for the boy, and most expensively my Kindle and one of my backup drives. Thankfully it didn't have anything like a license or a credit card in it so everything being replaceable is only determined by the funds I have at the time. But still a punch to the psyche.
But OTHER THAN THAT. I had a wonderful time seeing all my friends again. I got smellies for people and a new shoulder puppet dragon for me, which thankfully was NOT in my bag when it vanished. (I'd say stolen but I'm not entirely sure it was, it may have just been absconded with as a mistake because it's a very common looking bag, in the way that some schools everyone has the same brand of backpack.) Um. I got to talk to John Kim of Librarians and he was absolutely the sweetest. I got to talk very briefly to Nick Frost about Into the Badlands as Journey to the West, did not keep enough of my composure there to actually showcase my knowledge but got an appreciation that he knew it. I went to a panel of Black Panther background and stunt actors and got to ask my question about capoeira (some, but not as much for the Jabari) and got a good ego boost out of the stunt/combat actor sounding impressed that I did capoeira! Woo! My panels went very well, I think the ones I moderated went very well, and all in all it was a hell of a lot of fun. Plus there was really really raunchy shouting at Heroes and Villains against Humanity, as per usual.
And I donated blood, of course. Which it turns out I can, none of the medications I'm on are on the banned list. With my usual get on the chair, someone else is at the other side of the station already being pumped, but we finish at the same time because I bleed easy and recover just as easy. My record remains unbroken!
As per tradition I'm taking the two weeks post-Dragon Con off any intensive scheduled work to do, although inevitably I'll end up doing something. I've decided that when I really need to channel my energy into something writing-wise I'll blather, I'll plan, I'll brainstorm, I'll do something like that that doesn't involve heavy lifting. Or multiple steps so I don't get two steps into a five step process and fall over. Along these lines though I've decided to take a second stab at bullet journaling, specifically for writing because for my day to day usual life crap that's what Habitica is for. But for writing projects I don't really have an organized system for ... anything. So let's try that and see if it works. It didn't last time. This time, who knows.
Other than that I kind of find myself wanting to sleep a lot. I realize that's not how sleep debt works, but try convincing my body of that.
