kittydesadeSo, yes, my days of remembering to post here and check in with y'all are certainly coming to a middle.
I started Legion. Which reminds me greatly of A Clockwork Orange in its aesthetic. It has that whole minimalist 50s-70s vibe with a liberal dollop of surrealism added in because why should anything make sense ever. Only in this case people have mutant powers. It's the atmosphere of A Clockwork Orange with the plot of an X-Men title, meaning that everyone is doing the exact opposite of the sensible, helpful thing and no one is talking to each other.
I'm exaggerating. But seriously, when I was reading X-Men it was the 90s and people were finding the stupidest ways to get into conflict with each other and cause a world- or universe-ending apocalypse.
I have author copies of books! My costumes are packed, I have proof copies on the way, and I'm getting my hair done at ass o'clock tomorrow. The makeup to trade will have to wait until the proof copies are packed, but that can happen tonight. The makeup to wear... I may also pack tonight actually, and just keep some small stuff out for the three days of work next week. I should be able to finish Legion this weekend. Here's hoping I can retain enough of it to talk intelligently about the show, although I have far higher standards for "talk intelligently" than most people. Years of Murderboarding. And then I need to rewatch Altered Carbon somehow or at some point. But that won't be terrible, I can rewatch it while I do other crap, and finish reading the thing on the way.
And. And and. Something. I'm getting more excited than anxious about DragonCon approaching, which is nice. This time last year there was a lot more Something Terrible Is Going to Happen and Oh God It's So Much Work and it didn't ease up until I was there. This time it's a lot easier to keep in mind that this is something I enjoy, dammit. Maybe the thyroid drugs are helping.
