A rare weekend update, since I had two updates to do on Thursday and Friday and life conspired to make me forget to post the damn things.
Mikey continues to improve. And by improve I mean he's not vomiting while off the anti-nausea medicine (he's still on the prilosec for probably the duration of a pack, to give his gut time to heal) and he's gained about half a pound as far as I can tell by holding him while standing on a scale. That's taking care of both of the measures of deterioration we could find, considering he never did get listless or lethargic or avoidant, just pukey and lost weight. But both of those seem to be doing better. Unless we hear otherwise from a vet I'm inclined to keep him on the prednisolone indefinitely, though maybe at a slightly smaller dosage. But hopefully that'll keep the tumor at bay for some years.
(The ... something. Of it all is that now the shop cat is inexplicably vomiting more than she should be but otherwise behaving as normal. It could simply be food irritations, I don't know what kind of food they feed her, but of course my brain immediately goes to oh hell this again?)
And then there was a cat crisis of Bat Cat getting out again which is starting to be less of a crisis and more of a Dammit can't you just be a housecat for five freaking minutes type of deal. The worst part is when the boy woke me up at 1 in the freaking morning to go call him in (no, it didn't work) Little Bit got out, and Little Bit is much more of a housecat than the still half feral Bat Cat. So getting her back in took around three hours and then I went to work exhausted on a day when it was going to be a long day anyway because we were going to see Black Panther. Insult to injury, he came trotting back as I'd told the boy he was going to this morning. Was right there in the utility room he'd escaped out of, looking at the boy all "Okay I'm ready to come home now. :D :D :D" If it's not raining tomorrow I'm taking him for damn walkies to teach him how he gets to go outside.
Health situations update: The one aunt will be fine, the one uncle will also likely be fine, but my capoeira teacher got clocked in the head last weekend and is still feeling funky, so either he's being the least helpful about describing his symptoms and has flu or a head cold or he's got the world's longest concussion and I had to nudge him to at least try and make arrangements for an MRI because dude, head injuries are not to be trifled with. You've been doing this for twenty plus years you should know this by now. So I'm going to fuss over him for weeks now whether or not he gets his noggin checked out but especially if he can't afford it because arrrrrgh.
Other than that things are still going all right! In the household, in the larger family, I don't want to do taxes but I suppose I will next weekend or the one after. I need to get back into a habit of reading books now that I've taken care of a couple of books I had to read but didn't enjoy as much as I'd hoped. Starting with Janny Wurts' Wars of Light and Shadow because I need to go back to high school when everything was going to be okay. The list of things that needs to be fixed in the house is slowly growing, but more because they're inconvenient than because they imminently need to be fixed. After taxes we'll work on tackling those one expense at a time.
