1. I want to watch Firefly again.
Spent the better part of an hour explaining Firefly to April, reading her quotes, etc. Whereupon I ended up being nostalgic for the series myself. I hope the DVD and the movie sparks new interest in the show, and that some other channel picks it up. I miss my Serenity.
2. I'm so tired. I've been so tired for the better part of the last ... I dunno. Twenty-four hours at least. My brain feels like it's been packed in cotton... I can't think. Which is bad, when you consider the excessive list of things I have to do. Library... I need to go to the library. I need to shower and get back over to my place so I can work on the Courtesan School Web page... which, for those of you who are staring at me funny, no, I'm not advocating people wandering around in fancy dress exchanging sex for money or favors. The era of the courtesan is, unfortunately, long over. It's just a sort of a thing whereby me and at least one other friend are trying to achieve the sort of style and striking charisma that the old courtesans used to have.
Yes, I am a silly silly bugger. And probably insane to boot. Oh well.
Looking on the web at the catalog for the local library... bleh. I may have to hit the ... I don't know. Something. A different library. Still... I'll finish this journal entry and go shower and go to the library and pick up the books for my essays for
settiai. Who says a history degree is useless...
Okay, never mind, this card catalog is useless. I'm just going to go to the damn library and look through the stacks myself. There's got to be something. Stupid library catalog. Stupid library that doesn't have hardly anything on late 19th/early 20th century European history.
Lessee... what else does my to-do list have on it. Edit and write more chapters in stories. Probably RIP will be next, after I edit that Mero/Persephone fic. Poor story, I haven't done hardly anything in it lately. And after I finish that I should probably just write an original story or something about the whole family.. which, actually, amusingly enough, has its own lj. The thing about ... well, it started out as some fanfic. Then it sort of grew. Now it's just ridiculous. Go check out the
kaneresidence if you have nothing better to do.
I'm really starting to hate this library. Every search I do comes up with ten kids' books and no adult books on European history, much less US or Asian history. Grrr. And my own personal library isn't that well up on turn of the century stuff, except for a few specific countries. And I hate relying on web research because it's usually (with the exception of a couple of good sites I no longer have access to) incomplete or poorly cited. Damn.
Although, once I start getting paid on this job, I might just go out to the half-price bookstore and buy some books. It's an era I have an interest in anyway, and it wouldn't be too bad. The only problem is I'm not sure I should keep settiai waiting that long. Meh. Stupid library. I miss my college library. I miss my college access to JStor. Ah, JStor, how I do adore thee. Stupid JStor not .. well, then again, I've never tried to access it outside of college. Hmmm... nope. Damn you, Jstor! Damn you!
For those of you who are still in school and wondering, Jstor is a wonderful, wonderful online collection of several hundred academic journals and periodicals. It's the research resource from God. I am not kidding. It's absolutely heavenly and I abused it heartily to write papers and such when I was in college. I never had to leave my dorm room, I just had to download the PDFs, print them out or read them on my computer, and take notes from there. It was wonderful. I miss it terribly. Stupid Jstor. Damn you for not allowing random people to peruse it.
Oh well. Over at the bf's, and should really take a shower. The kittens are so wonderful, though. Been playing with them for the better part of the afternoon. I should really take pictures of Alan, the latest arrival, a white kitty with blue eyes. So pretty. *grin* The bf's father's been reading Haggard, so there was a rumor goign around that the kitten's real name was Allan Quatermain. No such luck, though.
Okay, since I'm really just rambling now, it's shower and library time. bbl.
