Nov. 19th, 2015 11:34 amThe amount of food I can and do tend to eat after a good capoeira class is kind of frightening. Only after a good capoeira class, mind you, but dear god. Though I suppose that's to be expected. At least it was a good class, and I think I've hit the point of improving where I'm getting nitpicked on the little things to improve form and technique and so on. Which is ... something. For my ego, but at least it is very good practice, and they're equally quick to praise a good routine as point out a thing I should be doing in a less good one.
And at least according to my calorie counter, I ate about 90 grams of protein yesterday (I can believe it, that was a lot of milk and yogurt and tuna and things) so that's probably contributing to the lack of soreness today. That and the heated mattress pad I slept on. So damn good. Definitely worth the investment. It's like a heating pad for my entire body, which is so very welcome after capoeira.
I didn't get to ... well, after capoeira I barely got to Duolingo and finish my words before I passed out, but I definitely am going to try and do a full tear-down rebuild with math of this knitting pattern I'm testing before I keep going. I know what row I'm on, I wrote it down, but so far I think she's emailed us two? three? corrected patterns with math errors. And I'm just facepalming and very hesitant to keep going. So. Full tear down. Writing it out step by step and possibly row by row, preferably in a way that permits copypasta because oh god. And seeing if everything works.
Somehow, do not ask me how this happened, I managed to get the exact right city to put my protags in for Long Road/my NanoNovel by just picking a damn French city that I knew had been around at the time and slapping it in there. The sheer luck, I'm telling you. And on the other hand, maybe that makes up for me forgetting entirely about a war (that was actually a series of wars) that would have been taking place when they were in France. Oops. And on the other other other hand, hey, at least that gives them an excuse to get the fuck out of there and go travel along the Silk Road? Of which I can't find a damn thing, no, strike that, I can't find a damn book that provides a decent summary at least as far as my search capabilities are telling me. (If some poor soul is wandering by and wants to help I'm looking for 14th-15th century.) Argh. So at least right now I'm in the period where I'm vaguely cognizant, can write that, and over the next day and a half do some frantic last minute general terms research.
(Speaking of, my new favorite site is When Was It Invented dot org. It's just a fun toy.)
So, yes. Writing, and hopefully edits will happen at a reasonable rate because at least I know what I'm doing with the history and I think I've managed to recapture the equilibrium of writing the daft bastard. If I'm very lucky I can get all that done while at work, come home, finish mucking with the pattern and get back to knitting. I've already emailed the person to let her know I'm doing a full tear down/rebuild to make sure all the math is right. Hopefully she doesn't think that means I'm redesigning it, eek, I just realized how that sounded. Damn. But she is offering makeup gifts, i.e. free patterns, for all the math errors.
And at some point maybe ever I will be able to curl up with the Black Plague book and finish it. Which if I can get writing done at work will be sooner rather than later, at least. It's not that I have a lot to do as far as I can tell (well, and catching up on lessons). It's just that none of it fits into pre-determined amounts of time.
In addition to which, I should note this so I remember it at some point other and so people can remind me of it, I actually think at this point that if I keep up capoeira four hours a week (three if you take out the half hour of musicking) it's intense exercise enough that I can scale back my hour of exercise per morning to a half hour. Which will be nice! More time to do random other stuff, and I'll probably be more efficient about exercising if it's just a half hour. Which of course doesn't mean I did it this morning, but that's only because I'm making myself get used to doing Thursday's exercise in the evening because it's always a guess whether or not I'm too achy and stiff and sore to do anything the next morning after evening class. Heh.
