I actually almost fell asleep at my desk this afternoon so, no, no writing for me between day job work and falling asleep. But there is better news, though: our financial situation is stabilized! Boy is coming back to job as soon as all meetings are closed, what it sounds like happened (not that we'll find out till the rumor mill finishes churning) is it sounds like the director of the entire center stepped on the shift director's neck and said, basically "Quit being a tool." But the upshot, YAY FINANCIAL STABILITY ACHIEVED. He's still going to jump as soon as an opportunity presents itself, which it may well have or may do in the next month. But still YAY AUGH.

Oof. Financial insecurity is the fucking worst. Or among the fucking worst. Whatever the cause, the fucking worst.

I'm giving up though, now that we have some degree of financial security, and getting Little Bit to a vet. I'm pretty sure we're going to end up keeping her because at the moment I can't decide whether it's better to keep or adopt her out and I'm pretty sure the boy wants to keep her and blame me for it. (Inasmuch as we blame each other, it's more like "Before sunrise he's YOUR son." type blame.) And in either case she'd have to be vaxed and checked anyway, so we might as well. The hard part is going to be when they look at our patient records and see we haven't taken the other cats for their immunizations in a few years. Basically because they've been indoor cats the whole time and their likely exposure to other things is nil. Still. There may be fundraising? There may also be this thing called care credit, which is apparently no interest for 6 months, which makes everything infinitely more doable.

Aaaguh financial semi-security. I am so fucking relieved. I am so relieved I am of course immediately looking at the list of shit I've been saving up to buy and figuring out what I want first. And probably buying none of it until I get paid next so as to not become totally irresponsible, but if something comes up, at least I can pick up something. So damn relieved.

yay she sounds lovely, also this basically happened to us with Lily

the shelter in our area sometimes has $10 rabies vaccine clinics? not sure if they do feline leukemia or whatever the other common booster is.

if your shelter doesn't have those, local rescue-types (or anyone who works there who has a ton of cats tbh) might know vets who do sliding scale? we're probably getting Lily-the-3-year-old-who-came-in-missing-half-her-teeth's dental cleaning done at the vet that often works with rescue organizations. they did her extraction before we adopted her, and their prices are pretty good. I also know someone my mom volunteers with at the shelter went to Richmond when her dog f'ing ate part of a spatula and needed surgery and saved several hundred dollars. >.> dog why did you do the thing.
