That whole getting more sleep thing last night? Yeah, that didn't happen. I'd swear I set my alarm to 7, and somehow it started going off at 6.30? Or something. That wasn't good. Even with the nap I still feel zonked. I have not, in fact, felt rested since I got to DragonCon in the first place. This is not a good thing. On the plus side I'm both a) getting in a full day's work today and b) realizing that my pay schedule sort of works out to an "extra" paycheck after DragonCon, so that's nice.

(Basically I get paid every two weeks, one fortnight goes to bills and other stuff, one goes to mortgage and savings, only this time I seem to have two paychecks between one mortgage/savings and the next. Double checking that I haven't just forgotten... no, no I haven't. Okay. Good. Huh. But if that was going to happen, after DragonCon was a good time for it!)

Apparently we're all zombies this week. I have one address out of the three I'm supposed to ship BPAL to! And that's been sent, and beyond that I have no damn idea. Boxes will be made up and then sit here for me to stare at until I have addresses.

I want so many things right now, now that I've realized I have extra money. I want sports bras. And shiny pens. And books, oh god so many books, I have no idea what I'm going to get when I hit the used bookstore this weekend but there will be so damn many books. I mean, on the minus side I have now realized that my weekend looks like, capoeira, flatness, all day bookstore Knoxville trip, more flatness. That is not a weekend. And on the other hand, two story warehouse sized used bookstore. That might be worth taking two not-a-weekends in a row. Urgh decisions. I want to go on a shopping spree on Etsy. I want $25 worth of music, at least that's what my digital music shopping cart on Amazon looks like at the moment. I need to figure out which of the several things I want from my Stitch Fix box that I'm going to keep. I want the money to keep all of them and AHAHAHAHAHAHAH that's not going to happen. I want more sleep.

I might get the more sleep. I've even been celebrating my freedom from deadlines by playing Diablo. Not sure about anything else. I also have a dentist appointment I'd forgotten about. Meh.

Wednesday Reads
So, due to the fact that I had two long bus rides which turned out to be 10 and 11 hours, I read a lot this week. Weekend. Week. I started and eventually mainlined all of Chuck Wendig's Miriam Black books, Blackbirds, Mockingbird, and The Cormorant. They were good! He's got a very, very distinctive writing manner that will not be for everyone, and if you don't like it in that series he does tone it down some for the Heartland trilogy but not all the way, the present tense remains, the first person goes away. Yes, I read all of those too. And I enjoyed them! I enjoyed Mockingbird and The Cormorant a lot more than Blackbirds mainly because I feel like in the first book his style kind of got in the way of the story, and then in the second and third he smoothed out a lot of the balance between style and story. So, yeah, that was six books.

What the hell else did I read. I read Court of Fives by Kate Elliott, enjoyed that very much. Though let's face it, the combination of Kate Elliott + Ninja Warrior, American or Original flavor, was going to be a winner for me.

I'm working on Mad Madame LaLaurie by Victoria Cosner Love and Lorelei Shannon, and Wild Cards 20? 21? Deuces Down by the Wild Cards bunch. Because Wild Cards is my comfort zone. The Madame LaLaurie book is less lurid than most of them tend to be and more with the citing of letters and accounts from various sources which are still, it looks like, available to the general public? Which on the one hand makes for some dry reading and on the other hand is also far more of what I was looking for, which is good. I'm still only a few pages into Shadowshaper (Daniel Jose Older) and Zeroes (Chuck Wendig again), so I'd like to finish that at some point. Basically it's ending up like I'm trying to cram all my yearly reading into the last four months of the year. I'm really okay with that, if it means relaxing.

No word count or superhero training or anything because this week was mostly eaten by DragonCon.
