Aug. 13th, 2015 10:12 amWell, that was, um, interesting. So, four ferals came to breakfast today: Little Bit, Tiny Bit (two tabbies who look very alike), Barton, and Cassius (two black cats who also look very alike, except Cassius is skinnier i.e. lean and hungry look, and has a scar on top of his head). Now, when I came out of the door the sun was in my eyes; this house being built before electricity means the architecture and the windows are meant to capture as much natural light as possible, so I go out the door and bam, sunlight. And I was mostly awake, but I went and I fed the ferals and a tabby was cuddling up to the food bowl, and I petted it. And it allowed this! So I figured, hey, Little Bit, and I went to pick it up. And it FREAKED. Not too terribly much, I didn't get very clawed, but definitely freaking, so I put it down, back up... and see Little Bit coming out of her flower pot all nonchalant like she hadn't been sitting on my marigolds watching me try and pick up Tiny Bit.
Apparently the tabbies are the friendliest of the ferals. Go figure. I could speculate that this has anything to do with genetics, like canids and floppy ears and domestication, but my sample size right now is five cats (if Tasha shows back up ever) so, heh.
Of course after that I was flustered enough that I set a glass jar on an unstable surface. It broke. I spent the next several minutes picking up glass pieces, some after that sweeping up glass pieces, and still managed to find one with my bare foot. Which I didn't find out until I'd gotten back to the couch and started walking around it picking up. So now I have puncture wounds all over the freaking place. Strangely, this hasn't done nearly as much against my mood as it might otherwise have, for reasons passing understanding.
That means, of course, that today is the day that twelve boxes of wholesale yarn arrived today from the dyer, so I have to not only use both hands to haul things with plastic strapping a lot, I also have to be on my feet a lot. Good thing the glass cut doesn't hurt. But between the various cuts and things and last night being a particularly vigorous capoeira class, I'm going to be impressed if I make it through the day without curling up on the shipping pallet or the mattress.
I have, in fact, finally realized that putting 12-15k word blog posts on the same to-do lists as tasks that might take me an hour tops is... not wise. There, things have been parceled down into chunks that are roughly comparable in time.
1. Weed the damn herb garden that was.
2. Pick up office
3. Blasted Lands timeline
4. Make event list for timeline
5. White Lightning supp document (history of, or magazine article, or theatre reivews)
6.Helix (5 minutes)
7.Haven 2x05 (10 minutes)
8.Arrow 3x01 Miniboarding
9. Flash 1x01 Miniboarding
10. Outline some of the other shit
11. And if you really need some writing things that are not WL, drabble some of the magic for either Malachy or Nerd Girls.
12.Cut out used and superfluous sections of the comp books in backpack
13. Tailor blue shirt, side seams and possibly shoulder darts.
14. Finish 'scale of the universe' in Cosmology
15. Double check Shumway making an appearance on Claire's patient history for 2x06
... eh why not. ♥♥♥ U R AWESOME: A LOVE MEME ♥♥♥ // my thread
Also, for those of you who enjoy Killjoys, I'm currently assembling a Killjoys playlist on Spotify based on what I've found at Tunefind, if you want in on it and have a spotify account tag in with your username! Or look for the Killjoys OST soundtrack, my username's the same as here and everywhere, and I think they default to public.
