Aug. 12th, 2015 10:05 amAw fuckity fuckbeans I did get onto an Arrow panel. And that The Flash panel. And the Haven panel. O.o It's like they like me as a panelist somehow, which is awkward because I've been nagging them about panels for at least a couple days now. Oof. This also means I have at least 46 hours of TV to watch and take notes on in the next three weeks, because why come prepared to a panel when you can come overprepared! I suppose the plus side here is that 'watch and take notes on' just means 'have on in the background with something I can put down when I need to type something. ... Not that it's making me any less flaily or awkward though. Much flail and panic. At least this time I think it'll subside once I do watch at least those seasons and take notes, though.
Heh. I managed to get all of my day jobligations done in record time and now I'm sitting here staring at the computer screen knowing there's other stuff I need to do and unable to figure out what the hell it is or whether or not I have brain cells to do it with. This is sub-optimal.
I guess the plus side here is, as long as I keep moving, I should be physically awake enough to do capoeira tonight? Less tired? The minus is definitely I just spent a good two hours staring at nothing. Not even anything entertaining. I have not been entertained in my glassy-eyed lassitude.
Also the to-do list is irritatingly full of things I don't have the resources to do at work, btu that's another thing. On the other hand, I guess the fact that I noticed it means that my brain is waking up again? Slowly. Hopefully slowly but surely.

I should probably post this here even though I haven't made much time for reading lately, which I probably should also do. I am currently in the process of Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett, which for a Discworld book I'm find surprisingly hard to get through. Shades of Milk and Honey by Mary Robinette Kowal, and I did finish Burning Water by Mercedes Lackey which was astoundingly juvenile from what I remembered. Not that I minded it and not that I'm terribly upset to have spent money on it again, but damn. It feels like I grew up and the book... really didn't. Not in the good way that some childhood classics remain appreciable and relevant after you've grown up, just in the "oh my god you're still in high school that's adorable backing away now." Wow. For contrast, I recently read Tam Lin by Pamela Dean, which was published around the same time, and that stayed very very relevant and enjoyable. Burning Water did not age nearly so well.
(It should be noted that this book is also 20 some odd years old maybe, and I have no idea what Mercedes Lackey's writing is like now. I'm kind of curious. Maybe enough to pick up something from the library, not enough to spend money on it.)

Date: 2015-08-12 07:06 pm (UTC)I should add, I was a big ML fan in the day. I read her Elves with Racecars, the Last Herald Mage books, the Talia books, the Gryphon books, the Owl books, um. Almost everything up until the ... I want to say, around when the Skif and Alberic books came out and then I just sort of dropped off. oh, and Tarma, Kethry, and Kerowyn.
