(no subject)
Aug. 7th, 2015 11:07 amWell. That was... fun. I don't get the intense bouts of social anxiety so often that I remember I have it, it's usually connected with performance anxiety. So when I got the text from my capoeira teacher last night (well, possibly yesterday right after getting home from work, not so much night yet) asking if I wanted to come to the roda he could swing by and we could all car pool, I was unprepared for the bout of oh shit but then I have to leave my comfort zone and be among people who will JUDGE ME and I will be all alone in the wilderness and I WILL DIE. Yes, all alone with the rest of the capoeira class in the wilderness of a city two hours away. Good job there, hindbrain. I politely told him no, apart from the mountain of housework this weekend (I do, it's ugly), the idea of a big roda was still too scary, but he'd talked about smaller ones more local and I think I'd like to start small and work my way up. Which, he's a very chill guy, he was cool. But I would like not to be anxious about being in front of a large group of new people. Or driving on highways, for that matter, though taking the only car for a while would still be a pain in the ass.
(Also I don't have a legal license because of the aforementioned fear of driving on large roads, which, you can only go so far on the small roads when you're a small town in the mountains.)
(Rodas being out of town means I should probably fix this sooner rather than later. Though that would not fix the utter panic at having to perform in front of a group of New People.)
But, ugh. I think that derailed my night more than the GOP debate, which considering the responses I was seeing crawl across my Twitter feed, that was impressive. I did get some stuff done, some writing and some organizing of things. Not nearly as much as I wanted. Hopefully I can catch up on shit this weekend.
... Wait, what's this about the bus station building being sold? What? The hell. Just don't sell it until after I get back from Dragon*Con, that's all I ask. That's slightly terrifying, and yes, I called the bus station, and the guy at the desk doesn't know anything about it except that there is a for sale sign and no one's told the employees anything. Dammit. Anyway. There, that's bus tickets purchased. And I went ahead and splurged on my wand because no, the Ravenclaw phase never truly left, and that's been sitting on my list for a while.
There are so many things I want to get done this weekend. Actually, now that everyone in the capoeira class but me will be off to the roda elsewhere, I can get some stuff done then too, but. So many things. Let's have a list here so I can keep track of which to-do lists I want to do and what on them and augh. Also so I can run and hide from it later.
1. Replace door knobs
2. Replace outlet.
3. Clean the kitchen at least so the ants aren't around the cat food. Still. Again.
4. Cut the fucking ailanthus.
5. Weed the damn herb garden that was.
6.Pre-Pack for Dragon*Con the stuff I don't need yet
7. Pick up office
8. Do some damn mending on the list
9. White Lightning edits
10. Blasted Lands timeline
11. White Lightning supp document
12. Helix blog post
13. Haven blog post
14. Re-Outline County Witches story
15. Add book/story descriptions to fiction site, you idiot.
I know I'm missing stuff. What the hell am I missing. (At least one thing I've remembered!)
