Second Capoeira lesson! The lead-up is definitely worse than the lesson itself, although the lesson is hard and I'm always sweating and panting by about halfway through warm-ups even. The sweating is not helped by it being fucking summer and ridiculously hot and humid out, but still. BUT. I can do shit. Even sweating and panting I can do shit. I have stuff I can practice. I definitely need to get my thighs and my ass in better shape. My teachers are awesome. And afterwards there is music lessons and Portuguese talking and that's good too.
I think the most surprising aspect of lesson two of capoeira is that I had the energy when I got home to water plants, feed cats, scoop cats, pick up cat vomit, make dinner, eat dinner, and do a lot of mental lifting like writing and physics instead of getting food, collasping on the couch, and ending up falling asleep. I didn't have that on Saturday which, granted, capoeira was out in the fairly blazing sun at that point, so that's one difference. But still. I'm impressed! Now if only that could translate into better moves in the class.
Baby steps, self. Baby steps. You've only been doing this two lessons, you can't expect your body to do everything you want it to when you're not in as good shape as they are and your lungs don't work right anyway. Although I wasn't wheezing in the lungs catching sense. I just had to take more long deep breaths and be more aware of my breathing than everyone else.
Yes, this is going to turn into the all capoeira all the time channel for at least a week. I'd be sorry if I wasn't having so much fun and getting a good workout and good lessons.
Tomorrow and Friday, though, definitely need to work on at least finishing the two stories I know are ready to be finished and prepping for Camp Nano. I've also finished the revisions to the WL outline, so hopefully I can start that, but I'm not too sanguine about making progress on that till after Camp Nano's done. On the other other hand, for once the house isn't a total disaster area (and by house I mostly mean living room because most of the other rooms are closed off and only gone into With A Purpose, and I've gotten way better about picking up after those purposes) and I should have less guilt about doing nothing active this weekend except going downtown and sweating like hell for two hours in the sun. Hoo boy.
No, it's good, its' good fun, and I am going to be in such good fucking shape I cannot even tell you guys. Such good shape.
This week's word count is 5,259, not bad for a week involving a new physical activity that drains me, and obviously I've changed up my superhero training. I think at this point morning exercises are going to be 50% capoeira homework and 50% something else. I just don't know what the something else is.
Wednesday Reads is also smaller than I'd like, but I did finish The Goblin Emperor and I enjoyed it very much. Currently working on The Three Body Problem and finishing Artemis Fowl which I stopped some way into and never finished ooops.
