Ugh. Once again I spend a good chunk of the day staring at the screen and not managing to get words out. Something popped towards the end, though, words starting to come again, so that might help. I don't even have the slightest clue what I'm doing tonight, but hopefully it will involve getting another few thousand words out to add to the few hundred I got done today.

Have I mentioned that the Khan Academy physics lectures are much better than EdX's? Because they are. They are so much amazingly better it's, well, amazing. At least the one physics course I took, which was the AP physics prep one, and which had at least two wrong answers that I noticed that weren't fixed. That I didn't bother reporting because at that point I was already way behind and fed the hell up with everything to do with them. The only drawback is no exercises to make sure of my comprehension. I'm sure I can find those somewhere else, though.

Anyway. So, yesh, I got some words finally done. I also finally got my new laptop and jesus christ it's huge. Keep in mind that huge is relative-ish, I've been using a 11" netbook... if it's that big, for the last couple of years for portable, so my idea of portable computers is a little skewed, but jesus christ. And now I'm in the process of downloading all my shit for it. Yay. Trying to remember all the passwords for all the shit that's automatically stored is fun, though. Most of them are fine, they're the appropriate variations on my default password set (look, I like patterns, okay? I especially like them when they're obscure and contextually locked to me), but I seem to have fucked up my Dropbox password to the point where it says "Uh, no, pls to try again after we've verified you're not a bot kthxbai". Oops.

Oogh. I spent most of the afternoon doing this or curling up with West Wing and knitting and now I don't actually want to finish the writing I should have gotten done a while ago. I'm not even sure I want to finish setting up the laptop, that's how tired I am. On the other hand, laaaaaaaptop. And the keyboard's some new kind of funky that may or may not resist my aggressive typing well enough to last. We'll see.

Apps. Why does it have apps. Apps are for a goddamn phone. I don't need apps, I need programs for my goddamn computer. Grr.

Hmm, did anything else exiting happen today. I got the rest of my Kate Elliott books out of the library and now I have a shitton of reading to do. That's not terribly exciting, though.

Apps, because the OS is supposed to be one and the same for all devices - 'puters, phones, tablets, whatever. No idea why they stuck with apps as the term, though.

Silly Microsoft. Very silly Windows. Though 8.1 IS actually less irksome than 8, and it's an automatic update... eventually.
