kittydesadeBeing half asleep is not conducive to my getting anything done, particularly editing. I'm just saying. I did, however, get editing done. I got some writing done. I got Arabic done, I even got changing the ink cartridge to a pink one done. I did not anticipate quite that much ink left in the reservoir after I'd tried that, so I guess once I take out the cartridge or "empty" it or whatever there's still about a page worth of script left in it. But. Now I will be doing my Arabic practice in pink. And my Hindi. This ought to be fucking hilarious, if only to me. Mostly because I will undoubtedly complete a page of practice in pink and giggle, at least the first few lessons.
I did get some Latin done, I called Mom to make sure she had not been mauled by vampires or leopards or anything else like that. She had not! AND! My sister got into vet school! Not the most ideal in terms of oh god this is going to be expensive, but she got into one, she's been wait listed on another, so that's her taken care of. My brother is inexplicably solidifying his plans to get married. He's supposed to be an obnoxious teenager. When did this happen.
(Yes, somehow my sister going to vet school doesn't hit the Oh God I'm Old buttons but my brother getting married does. I think because in my family we're sort of perpetually students, if not necessarily in paid-for school, but MARRIAGE? That's like, responsibility or some shit. ... Actually, out of the current members of my family...
... only one aunt is married, I think, even including the cousin who has two kids with his long term girlfriend, so, yes. It's definitely the marriage thing. Which is hilarious because both my aunt and I are in long term relationships we have no real intention of changing, my cousin, and .. oh, never mind. My family's relationship with marriage is weird.)
Speaking of weird, my Mom's picking up guitar. This is my family, folks. "Hi, I have a hankering, I think I'm going to go study a thing now." This is exactly where I got it from.
Anyway. I got my languages done. I got my writings done, I got my everything else essential done, I even got some lessons done. And by lessons I mean watching lecture videos on Reconstruction (for the non-Americans, or even some Americans, post-US-Civil-War period) and these were some fucking barbed, hilarious lecture videos. The professor was most sarcastic about the apparently common notion that rape was invented by evil people trying to sick black people who didn't know any better? on white women? I'm not entirely sure what the thrust of that propaganda was, I don't remember much of it if I ever learned it. Anyway. He then proceeded to point out for about a paragraph all the rape committed by white slave masters on black women, but apparently that doesn't count because, well. Racism.
And there was a lot about politicizing history, and considering the Ferguson report was just released I expect to have quite a lot of bitter ranting in my future.
Sleep now. More less bitter ranting tomorrow. Hopefully more writing, too, but good god I was tired today. I do not know why. What the hell, body. Shape the fuck up.
