Respond to the commands as in exercise 2, remembering to change the direct object to the genitive. (AUGH GENITIVE CASE WHICH I HAVE COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN.)
1. Dún an fhuinneog! Tá mé ag dúnadh an fuinneoige.
2. Tabhair an gasúr abhaile! Tá mé ag tabhairt an ghasúir abhaile.
3. Caith am le do Mhaime! Tá mé ag caitheamh am le do Mhaime.
4. Fág an oifig faoi ghlas! Tá mé ag fágáil na hoifige faoi ghlas.
5. Lig an cat amach! Tá mé ag ligean an chait amach.
6. Bailigh an t-airgead! Tá mé ag bailiú an airgid.
7. Ith do dhinnéar! Tá mé ag ithe mo dhinnéir.
8. Oscail an doras! Tá mé ag oscailt an dhorais.
9. Ól an bheoir sin! Tá mé ag ól na beorach sin.
10. Can amhrán Gaeilge! Tá mé ag canadh amhráin Gaeilge.
11. Caith seachtain in Albain! Tá mé ag caitheamh seachtaine in Albain.
12. Labhair Fraincis anois! Tá mé ag labhairt Fraincise anois.
13. Scríobh litir chuig Liam! Tá mé ag scríobh litreach chuig Liam.
14. Ceannaigh an nuachtán! Tá mé ag ceannach an nuachtáin.
15. Bain an féar! Tá mé ag baint an fhéir.
16. Imir peil! Tá mé ag imirt peile.
17. Ól an pionta! Tá mé ag ól an phionta.
18. Léigh an leabhar seo! Tá mé ag léamh an leabhair seo.
19. Déan an bricfeasta! Tá mé ag déanamh an bhricfeasta.
20. Ith an fheoil! Tá mé ag ithe an feola.
So that would be memorizing the verbal nouns of everything, and reviewing the genitive case. On the plus side, Irish only has four cases, and two of them are nominative and vocative.
Apparently I've read about 33 books to date. That's just the ones I can remember, since I'm not always the most punctual about updating the list and sometimes I bet I forget a book or two between times. Anyway. This puts me on track for reading 100 books by years end. Which is impressive considering my initial goal was 25 to try and get back into the reading habit. This is why libraries and e-readers are wonderful, too. You don't have to have 100s and 100s of books lying around your house!
And then Anna and I got into an extended discussion of all-male bands formed past 1990 and how much we don't actually like most of them, and I confessed to a not so secret anymore liking for the Backstreet Boys. Oops. They have nice voices okay shut up.
My brain was churning a mile a minute last night, with the end result that I actually got a fair bit done, so there's that. Since it's still churning at a mile a minute let's get a list of shit to be accomplished today:
