kittydesadeSo, remember how a few days/a week ago Google successfully translated "The thought had also crossed my mind"? For every one of those there's three like this:
Машин было немного = it was a little bit of machinery.
Yeah. At this point I have my Russian together enough to figure out what's wrong with that picture, but sometimes it's vastly annoying. Today there were no such useful translations and it was ALL "a little bit of machinery." On the plus side I'm on page 41 and it is definitely getting easier. Just not fast enough. Grump grump.
We got a Haven Season 5 announcement! Double episode length! Which on the one hand irritates me that they couldn't give actors and such the raise they might expect for being contracted for another season, effectively. And on the other hand it's not so bad because I don't actually expect this to last for more than a 5th season; their plot arc structure seems to indicate that. And a double length might let them take more time and give more explanation. And on the third hand... well, they are at least continuing to pay their actors and run the show, which is more than I can say for Eureka and Warehouse 13. I don't know how I feel about that aspect. The rest of it, though. BRING ON THE CARPAL TUNNEL.
I'm writing this about eight hours after I started it. The State of the Union happened and so did the GOP response, and everyone seems to have decided that the official GOP response is not to offer any alternative policies, but to talk to the audience like we're five year olds about how Obama is bad. Fucking hell. At this point (okay, a while ago, but it's coming up again now) I'm scared for the future of our country not just for the way the GOP seems to want to take us all back to a white landed male dominated imperialist state, but also because with the GOP run by the lunatic fringe, we have no balance in the party system in this country. And as morbidly entertaining as they are right now, I really don't want their imbalance to cause an imbalance in the Democratic party because almost anything we do or say right now looks reasonable compared to the people the GOP has chosen to speak for them. That scares me. That's fucking terrifying. Can we please get back to the sane and rational discourse and not .... whatever this is. I don't even know anymore.
More fun things. My dresses came today, I will have to remember to take pictures towards the end of the week. Business cards came today! Murderboarding has business cards. I don't even. We got out the Haven theories post, and we got a State of the Blog drafted. I'd love to say I got some writing done today except most of it was blogging on one blog or another and by the time I got home I made dinner and passed out for an hour and haven't done anything since. Tomorrow will have to be another day.
