Jan. 3rd, 2014 09:54 amDependent forms (following question, negative, and subordinating conjunctions) show further irregularities. The present dependent forms of faigh are regular, with the usual mutations after the particles:
Ní fhaigheann siad feoil. They don't get meat.
An bhfaigheann sibh feoil? Do you get meat?
Sílim go bhfaigheann sí feoil ansin. I think that she gets meat there.
Sílim nach bhfaigheann sí feoil. I think she doesn't get meat.
Nach bhfaigheann sí feoil? Doesn't she get meat?
Dependent past forms retain the stem fuair, but the mutation is always eclipsis. The future dependent forms change the stem to faigh-, also with eclipsis everywhere and the future ending in -idh.
Ní bhfuair mé é. I didn't get it.
An bhfuair tú é? Did you get it?
Nach bhfuair tú é? Didn't you get it?
Sílim go bhfuair sé é. I think he got it.
Ní bhfaighidh tú é. You won't get it.
An bhfaighimid é? Will we get it?
Sílim nach bhfaighidh sibh é. I think you won't get it.
Note that the regular particles are used before the past tense forms instead of the ones ending in r.
It's fucking freezing out, there's just enough snow (and mostly ice) on the ground to be inconvenient, so we're at least one and probably eventually two people down at work. Joy. Plus I have sniffles. On the other hand, we're probably going to all evacuate early go home and hunker down and then I don't have to go anywhere till Monday, so that's good. I don't even mind the cold so much right now, it's the whole every time I set foot outside I worry about slipping, falling, and breaking something I'd rather not break.
So. Today at work will be up in the air, which isn't a bad thing because all I really have is knitting and the leather cutting I didn't do yesterday to keep me busy. Probably some filing. And then going home and killing the last of this one story and moving on to the next, which I think I've planned out. Yay?
Ugh. I am sniffly, I have no idea what I just made but it's probably not cocoa, or not only cocoa. I think it has coffee in it, which, ew. I have a pile of cleaning at work to do, no brain to do much else, so let's at least get to the one thing I can do that'll make me feel like I've been productive. Fucking winter ick.
